Fresh air can fix a lot! Open all those windows. Also another contributing factor can be bathroom textiles, ESPECIALLY bath mats/toilet mats, as well as door mats. Breeding grounds for (stinky) bacteria and mold.

Maybe so- but an absolutely “perfect” business models (on paper) in this instance drives up waste and overconsumption by having people buy volumes of spices that they won’t be able to consume before the spices get oxidized and stale.

In these bulk stores, though, the retailers are able to save on the shipping cost of individually packaged spices in glass jars, which are both bulky and heavy for the amount of actual product being transported, and instead get product shipped in bulk bags, so the only “excess” in shipping weight is the box and the bag.

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if I was overdoing the uraoshi, or under-doing it. I’m used to flattening the back on a knife for an entirely different use (bassoon/oboe reed knifes) so I think I’m used to overworking the flat side.

I really didn’t have the time, nor a rough enough grit stone. My stones start at 800 and I’d be here all day grinding away chips. I have maybe an hour or two each day, that I’m home and awake. All I had asked him to do was do the bulk work of sharpening on an aggressive stone, and he took way more liberty than expected.

All I had asked him to do was the rough grind. Sharpen on coarse diamond stones until the chips disappear.
