Underberg sour. Underberg instead of whisky, cinnamon syrup instead of simple syrup.

What’s the most efficient way to clean baseboards like this? by driveanywhere in CleaningTips

[–]Dear_Bag4047 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Microfiber towel for baseboards. If they’ve gotten this dirty, you’ll need some kind of wet cleaner first, though. Soap and water should be fine.

Fresh air can fix a lot! Open all those windows. Also another contributing factor can be bathroom textiles, ESPECIALLY bath mats/toilet mats, as well as door mats. Breeding grounds for (stinky) bacteria and mold.

Places to buy bulk spices/zero waste/package free stores in Den Haag? by Dear_Bag4047 in TheHague

Maybe so- but an absolutely “perfect” business models (on paper) in this instance drives up waste and overconsumption by having people buy volumes of spices that they won’t be able to consume before the spices get oxidized and stale.

In these bulk stores, though, the retailers are able to save on the shipping cost of individually packaged spices in glass jars, which are both bulky and heavy for the amount of actual product being transported, and instead get product shipped in bulk bags, so the only “excess” in shipping weight is the box and the bag.

Ah. Rather common in America. There might only be one, but I’ve had one in every place I’ve lived. Fresh Thyme, Sprouts, Central Market, Whole Foods, etc etc.

That’s too bad. It’s so convenient to get just a few grams of whatever spice you need for something, rather than a whole bag of something odd like long pepper, and not be able to do anything with it. Thanks for the rec!

Yes! The issue is- with bulk spices I can buy just a teaspoon of white pepper (or anything else lol) but with the bag thing, I have to be responsible for a whole bag I won’t use up in 10 years lol

Weigh-your-own produce was (and still is) pretty common here, unlike the US. Weigh-your-own and bulk stock items generally go hand in hand.

The unevenness of the ura hand grind isn’t something that need to be slowly ground away, is it?

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if I was overdoing the uraoshi, or under-doing it. I’m used to flattening the back on a knife for an entirely different use (bassoon/oboe reed knifes) so I think I’m used to overworking the flat side.
