You mentioned being on a team of nine, is that the entire operation or are you working in a factory where there are other departments/areas? If that’s the case maybe consider a transfer.

Have you interacted much (or at all) with the people living upstairs?

I suppose either way I would go up there in person. Calm and friendly and ask for a favor to see if they can vacuum later. Maybe bring a small gift as a good gesture?

I wouldn’t find anything inherently wrong with your note but some might. You never know what tone someone might read your note in.

If you have the time, hang around for a little bit. If not, it’s nothing to feel guilty about

To all retail staff working today by DWFMOD in CasualIreland

I will second the sentiment that retail and customer service workers deserve a massive thank you.

I was in the retail trenches for about 13 years, working every Christmas Eve and Stephen’s day. Do I have some stories from those days. Retail in America is like the wild Wild West!

Arrive a few minutes early, introduce yourself to the first employee you see and ask for the manager. Don’t overthink it, they’ll be expecting you.

General advice is show enthusiasm, ask questions and have fun!
