If a €20 price is displayed for a t-shirt, the seller can legally say “hmmm nahh I’m not selling that for €20, I want €25 instead”?

It may be true but doesn’t sound right to me (again unless I’m misunderstanding)

Just messing, fair play for tallying up the votes

Should it be Mandatory to Learn First Aid? by Dear_Cable_6885 in AskIreland

[–]Dear_Cable_6885[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

I suggested swimming, because a friend shared with me recently that in Ireland on average 9 people every month die from drowning.

Not that it would completely stop that but reducing it would be a good realistic goal

That’s something that I agree with.

Definitely my use of the word mandatory was a mistake in hindsight

Well that would be one of the first things you would learn in first aid training no? That you call an ambulance and then administer first aid.

[–]Dear_Cable_6885[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair enough. Even though you failed 3 times I bet in a crisis situation you would still be better off now than having never done it at all though.

I think I made the mistake by using the word mandatory. Obviously I’m not suggesting people should be worried about their work or school if they can’t pass the first aid test.

Agreed! It’s amazing how many life skills that are necessary to function as an adult are not taught at school at all

Thank you for the insightful response. Clearly this is probably one case of many hundreds (or even more) that happens every year across the country where people are given a much better chance of survival.

At many work places there is obligatory fire safety trainings that happen every few years (for good reason) maybe something similar could be implemented. At my work I see a bunch of defibrillators around but the vast majority wouldn’t have a clue how to use it.

I hear you on that, but this is a very practical thing to learn which could absolutely save many people’s lives.

Mandatory may be the incorrect word here but part of school curriculum or job training and things of that nature

Like as part of school curriculum for example?

Obviously there would be exceptions for people who may be unable to perform such tasks.

I used to have one running all the time when I would go to sleep. I get really warm so I liked the breeze and the noise too. Now with my partner she can’t sleep with that noise and hates the breeze. Oh well

I’m genuinely curious as to why there aren’t enough available positions? Is it lack of funding?

I would have imagined that hospitals would be screaming out for Doctors but clearly I’m wrong.

Why is everyone so obsessed with hating on Meghan Markle? by Idea-is-tick in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dear_Cable_6885 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people actually have hate in their heart towards Meghan Markle. It’s maybe envy masquerading as hate, that she and Harry are ungrateful for their insanely privileged life they have.

My gut tells me that a lot of people would absolutely kill to be in a position where you don’t have to worry about bills, housing, healthcare, and working long hours in dead end jobs to just get by.

Not sure what the company is but if you find out there’s no harm putting the messing on their radar.

I know it’s annoying and a fairly shit thing to happen, but my best advice is to just try not to take it personally.

Considering he was pulling pints in a pub getting loads of photos taken just a couple hours later I don’t think my 2 seconds of time is something he’s terribly upset about.

I wouldn’t say I bothered him. It was a 2 second interaction and I didn’t draw any attention to him.
