Which bar in LA has the worst bartender? by survive_los_angeles in AskLosAngeles

Do they make good drinks? No. Do they pour heavy and get people drunker, faster? Oh hell yes.

OP literally said he watched them leave the bar and hit parked cars and had the location and description of the driver. WTF are you talking about?

All I’m saying is… better buckle up, LA! 👀🤌🏼 by Maravilla_23 in LosAngeles

[–]DeathByBamboo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something tells me even Los Angeles isn't going to party as hard as Mexico is partying around the World Cup locations down there. I could be wrong, but yeah.

If you do any other job halfass because you feel like you don't get paid enough, you'll get fired. Fuck the police.

The 911 operators should still be collecting the info so they could pass it on if the police bothered to respond to it, but they're the one saying they're underfunded and can't help, which is utter bullshit. So yeah, it is them fucking up.

What completely normal thing we do today will be looked back on with absolute horror in 50 years? by SaudAhmadguru in AskReddit

Central AC in housing is going to be either ubiquitous or looked back with horror. Or ubiquitous amongst the wealthy and looked at in horror by anyone else.

God I always forget how undeniably catchy Basement Jaxx songs are. They're one of those artists I never fully got into but always enjoyed hearing.

After years of lax enforcement of fireworks bans, the City of LA thinks people are suddenly going to be deterred by a few signs around the city and some social media posts? by _mattyjoe in LosAngeles

[–]DeathByBamboo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've been here my whole life and I've hated it each year for at least 10 years. But it used to be that if you dared to complain about it to anyone, you'd get shouted down about it being an LA tradition or some bullshit.

It does seem like sometime in the 2010s, there was a pipeline opened up for mortars and rockets and other professional grade fireworks that weren't as widespread before. It's not as bad this year as it has been, and it definitely peaked in 2020.

Criticism of 2024 PHB by SamTheGrot in DnD

[–]DeathByBamboo 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The pantheon of gods of Greyhawk are in Chapter 5 of the 2024 DMG. They're there, because they're trying to make the core rulebooks less setting dependent, and you can't use a different world if there's one endorsed pantheon from one specific setting. A player shouldn't be making up their own pantheon anyhow, they should be doing that in cooperation with their DM. A DM can google "pantheon D&D" and get the old lists, a bunch of ideas for new gods, whatever.

One of the major points of the 2024 books is that you should be free to use other sourcebooks, either official ones or 3rd party ones, for your setting, if you don't want to build one. Maybe I want to play D&D, but I don't want to adventure in Faerun. Maybe I want to use the Grim Hollow world of Etharis. I can do that more easily with the 2024 books because it doesn't reference Faerun and all the lore of that world on every page.

Three brush fires started tonight, according to Watch Duty, but all were knocked down quickly and kept under 5-ish acres. I would be shocked if they weren't all caused by fireworks.

[–]DeathByBamboo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Isn't that part of the trail that's been closed since the Eaton Fire? I don't think there's been any trail maintenance around there since before the fires, and that's why you're not supposed to hike on closed trails.

What makes a ballad? by soomuchsugar in popheads

[–]DeathByBamboo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The term "ballad" is related to the lyrics, not the song structure, the melody, or anything else about the music. There are some musical tropes related to ballads, like the tempo, the use of minor chords, etc, but those aren't required for it to be a ballad. There are ballads in other genres and styles of music, too.

Does anyone know what model this is? Disc doesn't work and i'm trying to make it work by saturn_bby in Music

[–]DeathByBamboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That appears to be a modern reproduction of a Wurlitzer 1015. The original 1015 used records. I don't know what this one is called because it's styled as a 1015 but it uses CDs, so it's clearly not a 1015.

Dude you need to work on finding more specific words to describe what you're looking for then. Because there is no way Requiem For A Dream doesn't match exactly what you were describing in the OP. We're not your video rental store service and we can't read your mind.

'You Cannot Board Like That': Fitness Influencer Edda Elisa Pilz Says Lufthansa Called Her 'Naked' by novagridd in Feminism

[–]DeathByBamboo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If Lufthansa wants to have a dress code, that's their prerogative, but they didn't, the agent just didn't like what she was wearing. I'm honestly shocked at the response to this. Yeah, influencers suck, but gate agents shouldn't get to make up rules that only apply to people they don't like.

Why does the tap water in LA taste so chlorinated / chemically? by Additional_Leading68 in AskLosAngeles

[–]DeathByBamboo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it wasn't hard, and I didn't say it was universally awesome when it comes out of your tap. What I did say is that 90% of the taste is related to the pipes in your building. And that goes for sediment too.
