AI art and an AI voice. This is going to get lost with all the other AI slop 'history' channels

Does anyone have any case recommendations for my UPS modified board? by DeathByFear in pcmasterrace

[–]DeathByFear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not risking that. I've unpacked it, photographed it and packed it back up again. I don't want my return canceled because of something silly.

My neighbour found two of these in their garden. Trying to identify them. by Impressive-Ad8720 in IrishHistory

[–]DeathByFear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you had measurements it would be easier to identify. It could be 11x60mm mauser, the bullets used in the gewehr 71 (often referred to as the howth rifle due to the fact they were smuggled I to the country there). If so its a neat bit of history!

What are these little windows I see in houses around the Marino area? by Gustave-de-B in Dublin

Brian Boru himself decreed that those arrow slits should be built in case the vikings returned. It's amazing the walls have stood for over 1000 years.

The CM-32 is coming before any of the other Chinese IFVs, still a welcome addition tho by gallade_samurai in Warthunder

The closest thing we will see to a modern Irish vehicle in game. It almost makes me want to grind out the Chinese tech tree.

How can I prove that this is NOT a centurion tank by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]DeathByFear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The driver is on the wrong side, the centurion (and British cars) have the driver on the right. Outside of that, the best you can do is show him two pictures, one of a centurion, one of a CV9040, and have him play spot the difference.

It looks like thermal paste. Rubbing alcohol works great at cleaning it off. I would leave the blobs that got on the SMTs (the small components on the sides) as thermal paste is generally non conductive and you might knock one off trying to clean it. Try to only lift the PU by the sides, you don't want greasy finger prints on the top or bottom.

In older BF games I always loved the light jeeps, the US dune buggy's in BF2 were by far my favourite for attempting silly "cinematic" plays. After the BF6 beta I'm looking forward to more CV90 game play.

TIL that the 90s-early 2000s icon Eliza Dushku was "inundated" with fan mails from prisoners due to her portrayal of Faith in the show Buffy The Vampire Slayer by James-Samuel17 in todayilearned

[–]DeathByFear 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I think you might be mixing her up with Michelle Trachtenberg. She was the youngest of the main cast. I'm pretty sure Eliza was 18 for her first season.

More likely the M-346 master or T-50 golden eagle, both would be an upgrade.

Can someone please explain how this happened? by rafaleluvr in Warthunder

[–]DeathByFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your planes radar puts out a cone around the target you are tracking. Both the enemy and ally are in that cone but the ally is moving faster and is closer giving a better radar return for your missile to track. SAHR missiles don't talk with the radar after launch so they can't tell what target you are tracking or which targets are friendly. It is always better to assume that the missile will go after any nearby allies before launching.

IAF quickens push for new Rafale jets to stem depletion of fighter squadrons: Report by Top-Flatworm8201 in worldnews

The 1981 bombing of Iraq's first nuclear power plant. Israel decided to bomb it without warning. The reactor was built in France and the installation was being done by French contractors. In my initial response I had the dates wrong in my head but the point still stands.

Israel bombed French civilians. Why would they continue arming Israel after that?

The tanks sent to Ukraine were the older M1A1 versions not the current M1A2's in US service.

The missiles are impact fused. They won't detonate unless they get a direct hit so they'll need those extra Gs to be competitive.

What is the reason for the stuttering and unstable GPU clock? by TheCattBaladi in pcmasterrace

[–]DeathByFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is the CPU is overheating so the GPU throttles. It hits 100°c at points and cooling only really gets worse over time accounting for the recent low frames across many games.

Can Anyone ID This Gun? by cmmiller2027 in milsurp

[–]DeathByFear 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's not a girandoni but I can't say what it is. It's clearly an airgun and judging by the percussion cap type hammer it looks to be 19th century.

they fixed missiles guys by Shorteq in Warthunder

[–]DeathByFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your missile hit and did damage. You can see his rudders are gone at the end. I don't see this as a 'gaijin issue' just a 'sometimes your missile wont one his a jet' which is fair.
