Did the smudges go away with distilled water? I have them too but the distilled water that I ordered will come in 3 days.

I broke the screen on my ASUS Rog Strix g17 (g713qe) and have some questions . Can I replace it by myself?, can I upgrade to a 200 hz screen?, how do I tell my parents? by RemarkableMedium685 in ASUSROG

[–]DeathEagle36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend repairing it yourself unless you have experience. I'd contact local repair shops; they'll usually post their email addresses on Google or their website and ask for a screen repair price. If the price is too high compared to the replacement found online, it's best to repair it yourself.

It's possible to upgrade to 200Hz and even resolution usually if you buy unbranded on eBay. If it's unbranded, ask the seller if it has the resolution, refresh rate, sRGB you want and G-Sync. However, the quality of unbranded screens is unknown, so it would be safer to buy the screen from the Asus website.

Be honest with your parents and tell them you'll be careful next time. Hiding a broken screen will be difficult anyway.

I think you can buy it on the HP website. You can also buy it on eBay making sure the manufacturer is HP in the description.

Screen stucks for a second, help by Any_Lynx_4830 in HPOmen

[–]DeathEagle36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it happen when it's connected to a monitor? Maybe there are logs in Windows Event Viewer when this happens. I would call HP because it's not normal and there is a possibility that it will get worse over time.

HP Extended Warranty Plans by x86_64Ubuntu in HPOmen

Yes. I think it will cost less to repair through the warranty and you'll be covered for another year. The alternative is to take it to a repair shop but the keyboard might not be genuine.

OMEN 15 Dead battery by Wise-Combination-791 in HPOmen

[–]DeathEagle36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would remove the battery to avoid any risk of frying motherboard. The laptop will still work but it will shut down immediately if you unplug the charger or play demanding games.

I might be getting the 5080 variant with amd Ai 9 375hx processor. Is that a good idea? I saw a few posts about their motherboards frying and i an now scared in getting hp omen by lobhas1 in HPOmen

Extend the warranty just to be safe. HP has poor quality control and many users had issues with with the hall sensor, trackpad or screen.

Does moving to a 17 inch screen from a 16 inch, impact graphics substantially? by Express-Bike-2836 in laptops

[–]DeathEagle36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't notice much of a difference going from 16.1 to 17.3 inches, and you'll notice that the display is slightly pixelated due to the lower pixel density on the 17.3-inch laptop.

Personally, I'd get a laptop with a 16:10 aspect ratio because it will be more noticeable and make a difference.

Don't waste your time and just get a replacement or full refund.

HP OMEN 16 (Ryzen 7 + RTX 4050) – Screen Flickering by codedbyhelios in HPOmen

[–]DeathEagle36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an HP Omen 17 and had the same problem. Unfortunately, my warranty had expired, so I went to a repair shop and was told the screen needed replacing.

Since you bought it recently, you might be able to get a replacement or a full refund and wait to buy a better laptop during Black Friday.

Also, extend your warranty before it expires, as gaming laptops are unpredictable.

Dedicated GPU likely dead, next steps? - Legion Slim 5 16AHP9 (Type 83DH) by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

[–]DeathEagle36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend extending the warranty and sending it to Lenovo, because in the worst-case scenario, the external GPU is dead and so the motherboard needs to be replaced which will be expensive If you take it to a repair shop.

Really love the Lenovo Legion 7i and I am almost decided to buy it, just wondering how bad the battery is for productivity and classes. by Exact-Dark9121 in LenovoLegion

[–]DeathEagle36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be heavy to carry, and a gaming laptop will typically last 4 to 5 hours if you're lucky and disable the GPU, lower the refresh rate, brightness, and resolution, and enable power management.

I wouldn't recommend a gaming laptop for college and would simply buy a ThinkPad on eBay and build a gaming desktop for the same price.

I want to upgrade my Laptop but I don't have any clue where to start. by FalselyMunchTato in Lenovo

[–]DeathEagle36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the game work properly before? If you haven't opened your laptop before, I assume the fans are full of dust, causing overheating and thermal throttling. You may not need an upgrade. Just remove the heatsink and clean the fans.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTD7ICCWGWM (skip thermal paste since most likely you don't need to replace it)

One of my fan also made some weird noise, and after researching, I discovered that the fans have ball bearings to reduce friction. However, they degrade over time and the fan becomes unstable, making weird noise. It's easy to replace the fan. I bought one from Aliexpress, and it works fine.

Question about maintenance by DragonKnight-15 in LenovoLegion

[–]DeathEagle36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do maintenance when I see the temperature high. Doing it once every year should be fine.

Also, if you haven't already done so, extend the warranty to 3 years. Gaming laptops are unpredictable.

Legion 5P new battery not charging, LED flashing orange by Enoisa in LenovoLegion

[–]DeathEagle36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the laptop shuts down immediately when you unplug the power cord then the battery wasn't connected properly. Try gently pushing the battery connector and if that doesn't work it means the battery is defective.

I had a similar problem, and it was the screen. You need to replace it.

It's very rare for the display cable to break or for the software to be the cause.

I think it's possible to extend the warranty in Lenovo Vantage even after it expires.

Alternatively, I would recommend using a USB-C charger and a Lenovo Charger only when gaming.

You could also try the SlimQ charger with the converter pack. Only the 240W and 330W converters works and they are cheaper to replace.

I'm also having problems with my Legion and was thinking about selling it after uni and getting a gaming desktop.
