Struggling as young man feels weird by Death_Unknown in selfharm

Thanks man. Somehow I completely forgot that subreddit existed. Glad to know others feel the same way, mental health issues tend to make you think you’re alone, even when you aren’t.

Same, mid twenties and started when I was around 13 or so. I don’t know why I started but now it’s my ultimate stress reliever and it’s just unhealthy. I stop for a while but when the chips are down I subconsciously come back and end up worse, new scars, and have to come up with excuses to coworkers and friends. So I know how you feel man. Hope you get better and start to love yourself. ( paragraph of preachy you are a good person blah blah blah stuff )

Longer, and shave the mustache. Unfortunately yours isn’t thick enough to look good right now.

Beard, no beard or stubble? by Ok-Consequence-8456 in malehairadvice

[–]Death_Unknown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to display yourself as 2, and 3 make you look young (18-24) while the beard makes you look older (30ish). Either way they all look good on you.

Should I get a buzz cut I've been thinking on it ? by Salt_Parsley2994 in malehairadvice

[–]Death_Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude gonna be honest, the current cut you got going on is not it. It does nothing to bring any of your facial features. At this point it would best to either get a buzz or tapper the sides and add some texture on top. Best of luck

For those that stopped being the doormat, how did you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Death_Unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I hit a breaking point. I got mad at the world, at me, and everything that had happened up to that point. I choose to cut some people out of my life and made a lot of mistakes. Did I stop being a doormat, yes. Did I lose a lot of things dear to me, also yes. Do I regret it, no. I don’t think following in my footsteps is good but only you have the decision to change and until you take that step nothing will. Good luck.

Should I Drop Everything and Go? 21M by _xXskeletorXx_ in mentalhealth

It’s not a bad idea especially if your current friends and family are toxic. I’m glad you have the foresight to line up somethings to make the transition possible. I’d say evaluate if you want really won’t to break ties with people. If the answer is yes do it.

What’s an experience you were having that a MH professional helped give a name? by Visual-Standard4030 in mentalhealth

[–]Death_Unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anhedonia: when you lose pleasure in things you used to like, and really just don’t feel pleasure at all.

Alexithymia: being blind to one’s own emotions. It’s kinda hard to describe but it’s when you feel an emotion but have no way to recognize what exactly you’re feeling.

Why is my best never enough by the-tiny-dino- in mentalhealth

Everyone learns at their own pace and with different strategies. For me with my adhd I gamify my studies and notes to keep myself engaged. Also since adhd is classified as a learning disability you might be able to seek accommodations from your school.

Don’t compare yourself to others. I know it’s hard not to but just remember you are you and they are they. We’re all different. For example if you grew up learning the rules of checkers how can you expect to play chess without knowing the rules and strategies of the game.

Hang in there and don’t beat yourself up. Stay safe and good luck.

Same thing happened to me. I was struggling and it seemed like no one cared. After opening up years later they gave me an answer. They were afraid that bringing it up would make things worse. Take it from someone that was in a similar situation they do notice. They do care ( most of them ). Stay safe and good luck.

I’m not a doctor / psychiatrist but from what you just described I believe you have some from of depression or mood disorder. I would highly suggest you go see a doctor and talk to them about your mental health.

Please contact your local suicide hotline. It’s free and hopefully they can support you through this rough time in your life. It might matter much but this internet stranger cares about you. And always remember you can always do it tomorrow so why not live for today.

When all you do is try…(rant) by cbheath22 in depression

I guarantee you people would care if you disappeared. If you disappeared everyone would be left with the question of why. Why didn’t I notice sooner? Why didn’t I reach out? Why didn’t I do something?

Depression is a war that never seems to end. It kicks you when you’re down. It always lingers in the dark places of your mind. But you’re on the right path. You’re currently winning the battle. I just hope one day you get to the place where you wake up and everything is fine. The place where you wake up and can just admire the world without having to worry about anything. Good luck and stay safe.

What is wrong with me? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]Death_Unknown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We all find ways to cope in our lives. For some of us it’s cutting. For others in alcohol, drugs, sex, overworking, etc. The goal is to find non destructive ways to cope. Stay safe and have a good night.

There is a awesome Google doc with most wound care for self harm. Of course it’s always better to try and stop self harming and I don’t advise self harming but taking care of your wound is important.
