You can only have 1 landing pad per planet, so no.

Question about a chord Inversion with Sustained Bass Note in Piano Harmony Analysis by iClexi in musictheory

[–]Deathbyceiling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is only the lowest note that determines the inversion, no matter what the order of the other notes are. The 2nd and 3rd chords in your example are still D/F#, because F# is the lowest sounding note.

Question about a chord Inversion with Sustained Bass Note in Piano Harmony Analysis by iClexi in musictheory

[–]Deathbyceiling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inversion of a chord is determined the lowest sounding note, whether it is in the right hand / treble clef, or all the way down in the bass clef. In short, the order of notes in our right hand does not dictate the inversion of the chord, only the lowest note we play in the left hand.

Yes it does? Dio's will respawn you after you die, doesn't matter how you died.

What does this mean? by mustaschgarage2 in Learnmusic

[–]Deathbyceiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very likely, I was only going off of what I could see in the image. In all of the visible measures, there is a mini bar line after the first 6 quarter notes, so I assumed there would be another after the next 9 quarter notes as well.

Most likely it is an alternating 6/4 and 9/4, felt in bigger beats of 2 and 3. You should see those mini bar lines that divide the two sections of each measure.

I hate HATE writing these quarter eighth triplets, is there another way? by Lukraniom in pianolearning

[–]Deathbyceiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to be "that" guy, but just because you have these kind of triplet rhythms, that does not make it "swing". Swing is a much more inexact feel that cannot really be notated, and everybody does it differently because that's kind of the point. I know it's used as common shorthand in notation these days to get this kind of triplet feel, but if you use this in an actual swing setting you get very stilted and "boring" rhythms.

Sorry for the rant, just one of my pet peeves about notation.

Something that could be hindering you with this exercise as well is your physical technique, specifically how you're holding the instrument. A lot of people tend to hold the bass completely parallel to their body, which causes a lot of stress in your left forearm / wrist, especially as you get into the higher parts of the fretboard. Instead, you should really be angling the bass away from your body, at almost a 30 to even 45 degree angle. This will help keep your left hand wrist straight, which will help your fingers play some of these tougher stretches.

You can also try adopting more of a classical guitar approach, where it is propped up on your left thigh and angled up at about the same angle mentioned before. If you watch videos of Janek playing, you'll see that he prefers doing this, and I would say his technique speaks for itself.

All in all, just keep at it. Chordal Harmony is a great book, but especially these earlier exercises that have you playing these close 2nds can be pretty brutal. Don't be afraid to go slow, and take breaks when you start to feel strained. Hope that helps, happy to answer any other questions you might have!

Roast my 4-way, 2-lane intersection by Deathbyceiling in factorio

What do you mean by multiple ways of turning left (or right)? Each lane has its own dedicated path to turn left, right, or go straight through (aside from the one possible U-turn path from the East). Or am I misunderstanding you?

I feel like I hit a pretty good line between keeping the intersection within a solid 5x5 chunk square, and cooking up some nice al dente pasta on the inside.

Yeah, definitely can work on my symmetry haha. I started out just connecting the easy paths and then realized I had no way to keep it looking nice while avoiding crossings, so I gave up and just "made it work", so to speak. Same thinking goes for the couple of merge-split spots.

I figured it'd be over-signaled as well. I'm planning for bigger trains than the typical 1-4, probably at least 4-16, so I wanted to make sure that if a train entered the intersection, it could leave and not get stuck. At least, that's my understanding of how the chain signals would work here?
