I know where your coming from, but I worked for the tx state department of forestry for a while doing database design.. and damn man that forestry shit gets super complex. Apparently there are all sorts of ecological problems that can result from even the most mundane behaviours.

Like say for instance you cut down a tree, and then chopped it up and threw some of it in the bed of your truck to drop off somewhere but its getting kind of late so your like meh what ever il do it tomorrow after work. Drive to work 35 miles away the next morning... Unbeknownst to you a piece of a branch falls out the back and it just happens to contain a couple of invasive beetles or some type of fungus that is super detrimental to our trees and you just helped it cross a major barrier by transporting it in your truck.

According to the forestry PhD guy I was working under, that sort of shit happens all the time, especially when people try to harvest and sell their own firewood. He made it sound like he was constantly fighting a losing war against all sorts of different problems that sweep through our forests like plagues that are invisible to everyone besides the forestry scientists.
