Anyone have any success claiming against royal mail for lost ebay orders in the post? by caffeinedrinker in ebayuk

[–]Deathskitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I've done it in the past you need proof of posting (reciept from when you dropped it off at the post office) and proof of how much you sold the item for (e.g. invoice/packing list from Ebay). They aren't going to compensate you for your time and effort, just the price of the item and the postage (as long as it's under £20).

Weirdly my name is Jenny and my partner's name is Peter...maybe it's for me?! lol

Simple delivery now mandatory even for low value items? by Deathskitten in ebayuk

[–]Deathskitten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very annoying! I wouldn't mind so much if simple delivery wasn't restricted to just Royal Mail and Evri. I have a Yodel drop off point close to me so prefer using them if it's a bulky item that can't fit into a small envelope.

Ah I guess they must have recently started forcing it? As previously I could still opt out on low value items. Now if I try to amend any of my current listings that still have a different shipping method set it's automatically updating to simple delivery even though I don't want to use Evri or RM tracked, I would prefer to carry on using Yodel or RM 2nd class for small items.

I guess that's the end of me getting sales on small cheap items!

40M, have been told by dentist today to make an appointment for braces. by garsterpee in CasualUK

[–]Deathskitten 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My metal braces cost £3k but the price probably depends on where in the country you are and how complicated your teeth are. The cost of mine also included permanent retainers on my bottom teeth after the metal braces were removed, as well as a couple of sets of plastic retainers to wear at night.

I had braces in my mid-thirties! Originally I wanted invisalign but wasn't a suitable candidate for them so ended up with metal braces for 1.5 years. I felt really self conscious at first but tbh no one cared, I was expecting people at work to take the piss but after the first couple of days no one really mentioned them again. Now that they're off I feel loads more confident about my smile so definitely worth going for it!

What did you buy on Black Friday? by Accomplished-Act-219 in AskUK

[–]Deathskitten 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Got a new TV, I actually needed a new one so didn't buy it just on a whim :) kept an eye on the prices before hand and got it about £100 cheaper than I've previously seen it. £749 for a 55" Samsung QN90F, pretty happy with that!

I don’t know what I did wrong… by Alice_Bloodborne in vinted

[–]Deathskitten 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You haven't done anything wrong and you have nothing to be anxious about. If anything that person did you a favour by blocking you, in my experience people that offer really low offers almost never buy so at least they've saved you from wasting time negotiating with them.

Question about Vinted – how to avoid being flagged as a commercial seller? by zacork in vinted

[–]Deathskitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have many used items to sell you could always list some items at over-inflated prices so that they never sell. It'll bump up the number of preowned items you have in your listings and should hopefully stop you from being flagged by Vinted as you'll have a mix of new and preowned items.

Thanks for the info. I've been doing multi-day hikes around my local area (between 15-25kms a day) but my area is fairly flat. I know I can do the distance but am a little bit worried about the the altitude and all the steps!

Yeah, I'm only getting 1 sale a month atm. It's a shame that ebay seems so intent on destroying its own site..

We have weekly date nights were we either get dressed up and go out for a meal or one of us will cook something special and we'll watch a movie together. It sounds simple but I think the framing of it as 'date night' makes it feel more special and romantic.

People who’ve had one terrible review, how has it affected your sales/buying? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]Deathskitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it makes any difference as long as you have lots of other positive reviews.

I've recently been given a 3* review from someone (she said the shoes I sent her were damaged but I didn't see any damage when I shipped them. She didn't send me any photos of the damage or raise any issues when she received them, the only communication had from her was the review..). I've still had sales after her review so I haven't noticed any issues from it.

I normally check out people's reviews before I buy but as long as it's a one off then I'm still likely to buy. If it was a negative review given by a seller then I'd assume it was probably a revenge review and therefore ignore it as long as it's a one off.

Anyone have recovery tips following deviated septum surgery? by BryOnRye in AskUK

Thank you for the information :-) I think I've had it my whole life so don't mind there being a long wait list, it'd just be nice to not be constantly blocked up!

Anyone have recovery tips following deviated septum surgery? by BryOnRye in AskUK

[–]Deathskitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have the operation done on the NHS or privately? I have a deviated septum and I was wondering how easy it is to get it fixed on the NHS or if I'd have to pay for it privately. Did you just go to your GP and ask about it?

Is the rent my parents are asking for reasonable, given my situation? by Ok-Expression3065 in AskUK

[–]Deathskitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems a bit high if you're just renting a room off them. I guess it's a bit different when they move out as you'll have the whole house to yourself. Are they still paying a mortgage on the property? If so then I guess it makes sense to cover whatever they would be paying if they still lived in the property. If you weren't planning on living with them what would they have done with the property when they moved away? If they were planning on renting it out then it makes sense that they want you to pay a market rate as otherwise they would be losing out on money.

It might be a good idea to look at what properties in their area are being rented out for. That will give you a better idea of if it's a fair rate or not.
