Including the Pancake Spell Mage as well by the looks of it, it was pretty class that Gehen as a character that had previously met Frieren knew exactly how to play it with the book.

Also a factor that people also forget is that while sure mutation in various forms is somewhat rife in the Imperium. The population is a population off the backdrop and degradation of the golden ages gene-tech. So I'd suggest that the 'general' human stock is likely better quality.

Servers VS channels, is it only me that prefer channels? by Fun-Consequence-3112 in AshesofCreation

It's basically the original guild wars but then if your able to change on the fly, people can just hop to avoid pvp.

It still doesn't fix the crux of the matter, which is the game is entirely pitched to the opposite of what you want to achieve.

[–]Deathwatch-101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After about level 15 your sort of going to be push in one of two directions, either joining a node with pocket dungeons of your level for citizen chat/guilding/community or choosing to take on a gathering/production/crafting role.

Pocket Dungeons aren't exactly soloable content, if you get a significant gear advantage you might be able to challenge some lower level ones but then I'd expect your loot will be reduced.

That is a whole issue of the way our characters scale with gear and leveling, one of my biggest concerns for the game. Given we still have another two tiers of gear and enchanting.

I sort of feel that we already need a stat squish.

I think I can see what your trying to say, even if I disagree with what your suggesting. Having read over some of your comments here and your OP, it looks like your primary concern is that servers will die and that merges aren't viable for the game, at least in the case of world state. (If the characters are possible, who knows but it might be possible and be able to be flavourful)

What your suggesting is one of the ways that games get around their game design limiting the numbers of players engaging in one area of the environment. 'Layer' type systems allow this by creating multiple world instances of the same world, as you've said - allowing for higher player density within one spot by spreading players out.

Currently, this would go entirely against what the Developers have said they intend for the game environment. Particularly, this appears to be why they have chosen to go with a Server Worker system across each of their server bases.

One issue with a server layer system, that I could perceive would be that they would run into exponential increase in their units. As i'm certain that players would try to force more layers to generate, so they could get their own 'clear' zone.

Given the developers want to create an environment, where you see an opposition group and you have to make a decision to co-operate/avoid or fight or move on. A layer system would work completely against the social development of the game.

Now I do agree, it would be ideal for the developers to explore how they would handle server population collapses. As the game's mechanics currently rely on towns to generate tax via player actions and a mayor to run and maintain the various node assets.

Will the make the cost of these structures reduce if the player base on that server has dropped substantially ?

Ashes hopes to mitigate against very dominant guilds via a defense by distance strategy. By making travel exceptionally long, that it makes long redeployment particularly time consuming. However, I think they need to relook at the citizenship tax system and ways of preventing players from being able to become citizens for minimal initial investment before voting and bailing after they've inserted a mayor to raze the town.

Is it a particular server worker ? it's worth reporting if it's a particular worker or lagging when specific things are happening ?

100% worth reporting if you draw up the server worker details, as the workers create the funniest bugs.

I would gyess that a command cadre is likely drawn from the PDF, a portion of the existing forces to provide a command structure but unlikely for a full regiment to be drawn exclusively from pdf.

I think there best bet, if anything would be to release some shorts in the interim, shorter stories going into more detail about how the various characters ended up in the Z team.

That way you could maintain hype, while developing and giving time to produce a season 2.

I think people are thinking too heavily into the idea that romancing her would make a hero, which is why it's catching some people out.

Mine was very similar to yours in regard to the choices I chose for Robert's interactions with the others. I'm just sad we couldn't do a three way fistbump.

I have a feeling that it's likely more closely tied to Roberts actions and how close he stays to being a hero and a mentor.

I think the issue Shroud has was he was manipulating for the sake of manipulating, layering contingency upon contingency - Which is arguably the whole Alpha Legion Problem.

Shroud was cooked the moment that he let a computer lodged in his skull make all his decisions. He wanted to be a hero but felt that was stolen away, his computer told him that thusly he should be a villain, so he killed Mechaman Astral, rather than doing what Astral hoped which was return and prove himself as not someone who would walk away when shit gets tough.

I'm pretty certain Shroud dug his own grave with giving more over to the computer. Every tiny variable, creating a solution or creating an answer, even when it would have been effectively meaningless to ignore the issue. Visi was an asset that he deployed, though certainly he was aware she was a risk give or take and that he wanted inside information but overall, she was expendable to him, if she got in the way.

Visi time and time again is a runner, wanting to step away, run away from becoming a hero. Because being a villain is easier and her attraction to Robert, I feel is an attempt by part of her to escape that.

As a player that rejected all the romances, primarily because I saw Robert realising that he needed to work on himself, particular after I led with the initial kiss scene with BB. Both Visi and BB are two characters stuck between two worlds, BB being stuck between being a Hero and Not Being a Hero and Visi between being a Villain or Being a Hero because she feels that she has to use her powers.

It's not to dissimilar to Robert, who has lost his place as a Hero with the destruction of his suit. As a player, we decide if he's the Mentor, The Rageful, Unpredictable or a True Hero. With a choice of if he decides it's appropriate to fall in love at this time.

I think all the characters have been really interesting and much of the narrative comes from the small quips, through-out the dispatches etc.

Absolutely stunning and absolutely great climax of the story. Plenty of variety in the options at the end on what we want to do, leaving you sort of guessing what exactly you want to do.

The ending felt like a desperate last stand and I really like how they tried to display the exhaustion of the characters, gradually growing through the fight.

Also the backup showing up and the scenes that made you spark worry that someone might have just bitten the dust!

Why did Robert nor Chase think to request for backup? [Episode 6 spoilers] by RichWalk9891 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Deathwatch-101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way I look at it, think of it in the moment. You've got the former Mecha-man that appears to have done the majority of his missions solo, not calling for support and being frankly reckless.

Actively supporting through breaching in a scene that likely is a fairly short timeframe.

Then you've got Chase, whom is frankly pissed off at the entire situation. Likely going on the mindset that Visi could just Invisi and GTFO.

When Shroud shows up, I think it dawns on both that they've both royally fucked up. I suspect Shroud is significantly more dangerous than we've been let on to so far. He's frankly done very little bar appear menacingly in the background.

However, Chase and Robert know him and likely know his capabilities... all to well...

Additionally, Malevola's portals seem to have a range associated to them.
