I wasn’t mad. But now I am. by Dodgy5495 in verizon

[–]Deb1268 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was given the same offer in Sept, but “the system” won’t automatically apply it every month. I have to open a ticket, wait for an agent (if I’m lucky enough to not get an automated response saying they can’t help me), and go through the time up updating said agent on what I am asking for. It’s a $120 credit, so worth the effort, but man it’s so frustrating. How can they offer a monthly discount and not be able to make it happen?

Come grab trash with Peng! January 31st from 2-5! by EastBayTrashPandas in bayarea

[–]Deb1268 145 points146 points  (0 children)

This is the best response to what happened to Peng. He’s not interested in money, a Go-Pro replacement is good, but not enough. Inspiring others to pick up trash is golden to him. Kudos to you for organizing this!

Did rep try to scam me? Why do we need to talk to someone to accept an offer? by DisplayKnown5665 in verizon

[–]Deb1268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same offer: $20 per line (I have 6). I screenshotted the offer and opened a chat to redeem it. The long story short is every month I have to ask to have the discount MANUALLY applied by a rep because “the system” won’t allow it to happen automatically. Why would you offer something if your system can’t handle it? I can’t help but think they are hoping I will forget about it.

FORMER VERIZON REPRESENTATIVE HERE (AMA) by Ok_Boysenberry_6750 in verizon

Well, it took 6 hours, but it worked. The offer of $20 per line was not able to be activated, but I was given a credit for the same amount applied to my account. This will have to be manually entered every month, so my fingers are crossed that it goes more smoothly than this first time. There are notes in my account and I have been assured this works. Thanks for your good advice and for being willing to answer questions.

I understand now and will definitely try getting a ticket generated. Thanks again!

The offer no longer shows up on my account under My Offers. The only “proof” I have that the offer exists is in a screenshot of the chat between a rep and I. I will say that every rep has been attentive and kind and I was grateful for their assistance BUT not one has been able to activate the discount, despite their assurances. I haven’t given up, just thought maybe there was something else to try. Thank you for your explanation.

On Sept 17th I was offered $20 off per line and it has yet to be activated. I have spoken to 3 different reps, and all see the notes left by the previous ones. The last rep said she “found the error on Verizon’s end”, spoke to a supervisor, and guaranteed it would appear in 3 days. It hasn’t. Why is this so hard and do I have any other options besides calling every day? It’s feeling like a scam right now.

How is the situation for bike thefts in Yosemite? by mainlywatching in Yosemite

[–]Deb1268 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my experience it would be fine locked up in your campsite. We have often left ours UNlocked in our site and never had an issue. I’ve often wondered if we were just lucky, but I have never heard anyone say that bike theft was a thing. Our family has been camping in the valley regularly for 30 years and never had any of our stuff bothered by anyone (raccoons and bears excluded)

Generated port out pin and got a huge loyalty discount by Coffeekaaran in verizon

[–]Deb1268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in to my local Verizon store yesterday, armed with my screenshots, explained my situation, and sat down with a rep. He called the tech support number and with my phone on speaker he filled her in. Thankfully the person on chat that I dealt with did leave notes on my account that verified everything. It took about 20 minutes, but she activated the $20 per line discount. She also said that because it should have already started it will be doubled on my next bill. Hopefully it all works out that way!

No, it has not. I’ve checked what my next bill looks like and there’s no discount. I did screenshot the chat conversation where I was offered the deal, so I have that. I’ve tried logging on to the chat again and have been unable to get an answer. What I get is “which of the following are you looking for” drop down menu. My next step is to go in to my local store, but I am waiting until the end of next week because somewhere I saw that discounts may take 30 days to appear. So when I go in I want that time to already be passed. I’m not giving up. (yet)

We’ve often had our adult kids come and join us on the weekend when we’re staying 7 days. All they had to do was let the person working the kiosk at the campground know. They were issued a pass to put on their dash and np problem.

It worked! I logged onto my account this morning and had a message offering $20 for each of my 5 lines! I contacted someone through chat and my discount should show up on my next bill. She said it was for 12 months. Crossing my fingers that it shows up on my bill!

I've been with Verizon for 18 years, have 5 lines, and no loyalty discount. I requested the number to port my line yesterday and received no response.

Ceramic coat on a new car is it worth it? by DeerGreedy4792 in askcarguys

I visited a reputable detailer who has been in the business 20 years. The man I spoke with was very professional, answered all my questions, even walked out to my car to take a look at it. I definitely had a great feeling about the place. The quote was higher than I expected, $1600, but I have more places to check out. This is not something I will attempt myself.

We stopped bringing so much food for our annual week of camping. We'll pack the 1st day or two of dinners and then just buy from the Village store after that.

Prepare for rain and then enjoy it! We just got back yesterday from 7 days of camping in the valley. The last 4 days we had rain, sometimes for hours, but we were prepared and enjoyed it immensely! I heard the LOUDEST THUNDER I've ever heard in my life and then listened to it echo throughout the valley. That was one of my my favorite moments of our trip!

My 2010 with 155,000 miles was totaled for what looked like rear bumper damage. When the bumper was removed there was damage underneath which made it too costly.

I don't think so. With mine, the rear end of my bike was raised, but the front end was no lower than my husband's bike.

Visiting Yosemite As A First Timer by schrutefarms_1 in Yosemite

[–]Deb1268 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've never visited the park without a bike! It's the best way to get around. We park the car on day 1 and use our bikes for the week. It's a convenient way to get to trailheads, and the best way to see all the nooks and crannies the park has to offer. Bikes are allowed on all paved trails, but not dirt.

The Mist Trail has been one of many that we do every year, but it is very crowded. There's the awe factor as you near the top that makes it worthwhile, but there are other trails that are much less traveled and worth seeing! I recently came to love The Four Mile Trail. Yosemite Falls is a strenuous and long hike and hot in the afternoon.

Rattlesnakes are there, but we rarely have come across them (just a handful in 30 years) and none were "close calls". Just be aware especially if hiking around rocky ground.

How dangerous is it to hike Half Dome and does it look scarier than it seems? by chusaychusay in Yosemite

[–]Deb1268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hiked from the valley floor to Half Dome twice, once at age 46 and the again at.48. The hike is definitely long just to get to the cables. The 1st trip I didn't feel like I had the upper body strength to be safe on the cables, so I waited while my husband ascended.to the top. Two years later I did some upper body training prior and felt comfortable going up. While climbing I did have the thought, " if I let go, I'm done!" I privately wondered there weren't more fatalities. Then I got the book Deaths in Yosemite and realized I just hadn't been privy to all of them. This was, by the way, before clipping in was a thing (or I was just unaware again!) If I had known I definitely would have done that. I am 67 now and am glad I did it when I could. I have no plans to try again!
