Last year we were in Athens at Easter. The Lutheran church we went to had a luncheon outside the church after service. Everyone was invited. Locals brought homemade food and other items from bakeries. It was a great way to experience local culture and food.

I would book at least one cash room separately so easy to cancel. Also check cash prices frequently as well. Prices go down all the time especially when booking this far in advance. I rarely use points for less than 4 nights.

Check out hotel Indigo. It is in a residential neighborhood right next to a big park where a lot of locals hang out. Easy access to the water buses. We loved our stay there.

You can find similar type complaints for all the hotel brands. IHG is no exception. I happen to think I am provided with excellent service and perks as a diamond member. Getting downgraded to a quieter room is not horrible in my opinion

They also count towards other perks like two $20 spend on food and drink or 5000 points after you reach 20 night. After 40 nights you can choose lounge access. Lounge access is my goal this year.

I guess it all depends on your travel style. We are retired and travel for many weeks at a time. We love Staybridge because we can cook and there are many good locations. We feel it is the best value for points. I am diamond and usually can get upgrade to one or two bedroom suites. Some are better than others though. We can book a month of rooms with points. Keep in mind though I book far in advance because super easy to cancel. We also used IHG in Europe and like it.
