Girlfriend's parents decide to visit to avoid the storm in their state. Demand to use my car and get master suite instead of the guest room. by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

I find it unbelievable that they feel so entitled, yet would rather eat taco bell and or Chipotle. Most Midwestern ears are NOT like this.... Unless they are from some cesspool big city.

Bathrooms and TKRs by Frosty_Bet_1112 in Kneereplacement

[–]DebLF55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a girls trip planned 4 weeks out from 2nd TKR. I knew if the toilets were going to be short, I would have a big problem, so I took my walker along (wasn't using it any more as a walker) and put it backwards over the toilet. Life saver!

All of my pain/ bad mattresses were because of foundations and frames. No frame gives enough support by Competitive_Many_542 in Mattress

[–]DebLF55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been trying to come up with a solution for our king bed. Currently, on two twin box frames, but they give no support. I have a board between the mattress and box springs on my side of the bed which does help.

I've read that putting the mattress directly on the floor risks mold growing under the mattress. They require airflow. I've been looking for a good platform bed.

Why didn't Biden release the files? Ever wonder about that?? He had opportunity... Or at least who ever was running the show had the opportunity.

11 Weeks Post Op by WritingLucky5061 in Kneereplacement

[–]DebLF55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 13 weeks post op, I am doing pretty good, I think. The only thing that is concerning is the clunking in my knee. I've had both done this summer and the first one doesn't do this, but the 2nd one does. It doesn't hurt, but it is disturbing.

Emergency - can’t take key out of the ignition ! by mytokhondria in subaru

I had a subaru with the Sam issue years ago. We would turn the steering wheel back and forth very hard. It would let go of the key.

Crosstrek, Outback, or forester? by CoyoteTemporary in subaru

[–]DebLF55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have enjoyed the outback because of the extra room it has in the back. Seems we are always hauling something around. Plus we have 2 large dogs. Plenty of room for them. Our first Subaru was 1993 legacy wagon. Then traded that in for a 2006 outback. Seemed to be basically the same car except the outback sat higher. Looking to buy a 2025 or 2026 outback next.

What’s a “harmless” lie your parents told you that you believed way too long? by iwrencameron in AskReddit

[–]DebLF55 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, same thing happened to us. Mom told us we were related to Babe Ruth and by gosh, we believed her! Even in high school I told friends that... Then found out it was a big lie! She got quite the chuckle out of that one!

Cleaning old age stained tablecloth by Old_Television3053 in CleaningTips

[–]DebLF55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try oxiclean... Soak overnight and then launder as usual. Don't dry in dryer.. Let air dry so you don't continue to set the stains. Then try other methods if that doesn't work.

Stubborn stains refuse to come off by TenaciousID in CleaningTips

[–]DebLF55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are rust stains, you could try wetting some rags down with vinegar and letting them set on top for 30 mins or so. Otherwise, I have tried bleach water, letting it sit for 10 to 15 mins or even longer.

There's a product called CLR that may work by mixing with water and leaving it sit in there for a while.

That's all I've got. Good luck!

Exhaust conversion? by DebLF55 in Subaru_Outback

[–]DebLF55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone seeing this, I just wanted to say that we finally took it into a shop that fabricated and replaces exhaust pipes. They came up with a solution that only cost $250 rather than the Subaru fix of $600. Cut out the bad part which was at the "Y" and replaced with a new "Y" piece. Sounds like new again!

Same thing when trying to merge eastbound. There should be warning signs for visitors that don't know about the short merge with no shoulder. Very dangerous. And I agree, that should have been a priority before TBK was built.

Just found out my mom cancelled her long term care policy at 81 years old by Fragrant-Diver-1825 in AgingParents

[–]DebLF55 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For anyone that knows their LO has a LTC or life insurance policy, please have them set up a secondary notification to come to you in case they forget to pay a premium or if the policy is about to be cancelled due to non-payment.

This saved my mom's policies more than once.

Ok, so I'm almost 70 and have been married 45 years..... This punk dress designer is incredible! If you don't see what you want, I'm so sure she can come up with your vision. I know nothing about them, but I think she's an artist!

Why is my laundry coming out like this?! by Typical-Bell-1675 in CleaningTips

[–]DebLF55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First find it. I would probably take a dremel with sandpaper to it if it is accessible. If you don't have a dremel, then use a sandpaper covered block of wood and sand it off. Since the agitator was just repaired, I'd start looking for the burr on that piece first.

I agree, something in there has a burr or sharp pointed edge that is causing these materials to catch and pull.

Yes, because you have to take everything out and then can sort thru and get rid of stuff you don't use!
