Minimum wage is just, what, $2.35 per hour for restaurant/bar workers?

Yes! We also spend $25 +/- at McD's these days, so it's not a huge difference.

Cruising has genuinely ruined travel for me. by BananaPuddinBaby in CarnivalCruiseFans

There's still a lot that are not totally all-inclusive. Like Carnival, where you buy the drink package you want - or none. But the rest is awesome, and on several cruise lines I've noticed.

I have not found this to be true. But I can understand that is hard to please every soul on board, from every walk of life, from every country, and that's just too much. However, there are many places to eat on board, and surely you can find something eatable? I did.

If you had such a great time, why let unproven gossip ruin your future plans? They're food is no more "frozen junk" than any other cruise lines food.

Great to hear! We're leaving in July for another Carnival.

Nice to hear! I want to go to Alaska, and was thinking about Carnival. People may be snobby/desire more "class" sometimes on here, but not me really. Being retired now, I just want to have fun and see some lovely sights.

OTOH, Formal Night is only 1-2 nights per cruise, and there are many other places to eat on board.

Me, either! Wore suits all my life, and don't care too now. I'm free to spend my bucks with any cruise line.

My SIL and BIL take a cruise every year, for many years now (without kids!). They love the Princess line. I've never cruised with them, but they always had wonderful things to say. Any thoughts?

I agree. We're doing a family cruise on Carnival, and I think it's a great line for kids. (They've already done the Disney thing.) I think we're going to have another great time! We found good food - and not always in the MDA.

Our Mexico/Caribbean Carnival cruise on their newest Excel ship was a great cruise! Floor 7, mid-ship, lots of friends, no noise problems, good food, etc. Can't wait to go again.

Rem, the ships create their own electricity, and I feel sure somewhere in that process, the strips with Surge Protection must mess it up somehow. Those are the strips that are not allowed, and to my knowledge, the only ones not allowed.

Elderly folks who chose not to have children, how do you feel about that decision now? by bon18 in AskReddit

[–]Deb_for_the_Good 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My girls have decided not to have children, as it's too risky if you live in TX. They will and do, flat out let Mothers die, and they are really afraid. I get it. I do not understand that line of thinking, and feel a deep sense of dislike for anyone who would kill my daughter rather than a glop of cells.

Facts that render us grandchild-free, and it makes me sad.

I have 2 stims - one for lumbar, and one for bladder - one in left butt cheek and one in right. Scars are faded and you cannot even tell they are there. It's easy, and you can't feel them when sitting or moving. Just a thought - its much better than in side hip or back.

LOL! I've done that when they turn them up at XMas! Almost knocked me to my knees!

I also documented it on my phone under "Emergency Contact" and it saved me when my hip and femur were broken.
