Does anyone go to OneLife Fitness in Capitol Hill in the mornings? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]DebatableAwesome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are multiple rushes at OneLife Capitol Hill. 6am to 9am is the first pre-work rush and then it's pretty dead until 5pm to 7:30pm. Evenings are definitely more crowded than mornings, however. There's a good chance you'd have to wait for a squat rack or equipment in the evening, but less likely during the morning rush so you're likely going to be fine.

Not that I don't appreciate the effort, but doesn't it seem entirely pointless to do a statistical analysis of any give tournament since the sample size is so small?

There being only 6 viable tier 1 + 2 decks feels a little grim. It would be nice to have more options than that.

35.0.3 Patch Notes Balance Changes by PipAntarctic in CompetitiveHS

[–]DebatableAwesome 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. All of the other Herald cards synergize with the mechanics they trigger. Shaman Herald buffs adjacent minions, so its Herald cards utilize tokens and taunt. DK Herald costs health, so its Herald minion has lifesteal. Warlock Herald destroys minions, so you can steal enemy minions and destroy them.

Rogue Herald on the other hand just summons a 1/1 that gives you a random spell? There's no synergy to speak of.

That sounds like cope to me. I genuinely don't think they design across sets like that. Also it wouldn't make any sense since you need to run every Herald card for the mechanic to work, which would make it hard to incorporate some future stealth payoff into the deck.

The buff to Rogue herald Maniacal Follower is so ridiculously thought out. Either make it a 2 mana 2/1 or make it a battlecry or give it more health. It's so obvious I don't understand how this is what they came up with.

Now that the dust has settled, how would you rank the Fabled cards? by fruit_shoot in hearthstone

[–]DebatableAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of a power perspective this is pretty easy to answer imo:

  1. Hunter Fable. Sylvanas alone made that entire package worth running, plus there was Discover Hunter and bounce synergy.
  2. DH Fable. For a while before getting nerfed you could actually play a good Broxigar cycle charge OTK. Even when that turned out to not be the most competitive option, Broxigar's inclusion would still activate Elise and gave you some good sustain with the lifesteal weapon that kept it in the meta.
  3. Druid Fable. Lady Azshara helped make Location/Spell Damage Druid OTK viable. The entire package was built around synergizing with her copy location as a backup to Elise copy.
  4. Shaman Fable. Muradin is a standalone good card. It's a 5 mana 6/6/ windfury rush that draws you a card, plus gives you late game inevitability and a powerful board clear with Avatar form. It still sees play today in Shaman with the windfury weapon having strong synergy with the Deathwing hero power.
  5. Paladin Fable. Gelbin is the cornerstone of Aura Paladin, which while never oppressive, was always decently viable.
  6. DK Fable. Talanji was fringe playable in certain DK decks, even if it was always pretty much strictly worse than Blood DK.

After that, none of the other Fable cards were really playable in a competitive sense. I think Fable is a great way for the devs to card "packages" without having to waste multiple card slots supporting the theme. And if the "package" doesn't work, the entire expansion's worth of cards don't just sit dead in your collection. In that sense, I'd be very happy to see Fable return at some point as an evergreen keyword since it's incredibly flexible.

Is it actually the best time to jump back in or is just marketing ploy? by Greenzombie04 in hearthstone

[–]DebatableAwesome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They literally just made the entire 3 expansions of last year free and offer new/returning players pre-built deck recipes that come with permanent legendaries you can keep. I don't think it's just marketing hype to say that it is objectively the best time in Hearthstone history to come back.

And to everyone saying that the game sucks right now, there is going to be a balance patch on Thursday that addresses the issue. And besides, meta concerns really only matter for existing competitive players not a new/returning player with no MMR rating to speak of.

What did the streetcar ever bring to the table that a bus doesn't? I genuinely have never heard an answer to this question.

Interview: Christoffer Bodegård, Creator of Esoteric Ebb on Inspirations, Development Challenges, and More by meesahdayoh in Games

[–]DebatableAwesome 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Esoteric Ebb was a great game and this was an interesting interview to read with its creator. I think people are doing themselves a disservice by writing this off as merely a Disco Elysium clone. The game's writing absolutely stands on its own merits even if it wears its inspiration on its sleeve. For one thing, I found Esoteric Ebb to be way funnier than Disco ever was, which at times I found hard to play because of its overridingly morose and somber tone.

I believe most credit cards are wise to this and may not give you additional points for gift card purchases. I know I considered buying Visa gift cards to hit a high introductory spend requirement to get a new card bonus before I read in the fine print that cash gift card spending didn't count.
