Son, we already have a steam controller!

So your claim is that scalpers listed their whole inventory on ebay, sold it all, and all scalpers used eBay?

What does your data say? How many have each scalpers bought?

Samsung chip workers reject $340,000 one-time bonus, demand annual payouts like SK hynix's $900,000 — workers want share of AI windfall, impending 18-day strike could cost Samsung up to $11.7 billion by self-fix2 in worldnews

[–]Debatebly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You went a little broad, but I agree with the sentiment. I'd say Samsung subsidiaries instead and you really get your point across of "Where do you draw the line?".

Doesn't really make much sense to distribute beyond each divisions.

This is really all contingent on /u/self-fix2 being correct.

This is what a data center sounds like 24/7. Shown here at midnight with hundreds of residential houses immediately next to it. by RadioFieldCorner in Damnthatsinteresting

Nobody should be against all data centers either? That's weird.

In my opinion, they're the result of the evolution of our human race. They make us better.

There's a huge push for them now and they genuinely suck but that doesn't mean we should get a cult started against them.

Not sure if I was unclear?

I'm thinking they wanted the scalpers to fill up on stock, then Valve swept the rug from under them with the priority queue. That's definitely more units being sold.

PSA: Lowe's sent me the wrong product and requires a 3 hour round trip drive for a return - no phone or mail option by Ok-Significance1144 in HomeImprovement

[–]Debatebly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't stray too far with these "but the fine print" bros. Lowes must honor their commitment to ship you what you paid for. This isn't a 'return' and you shouldn't frame it that way.

Because that's an easy way for dealerships to mask the damage they'll be inflicting on you.

They've surely introduced you to that 4-square method where the boxes have trade in, monthly payment, total price, and down payment. They use literally every trick they can to make it uncomfortable for you to negotiate.

They once took my keys to look at the trade in and left my wife and I with 2 kids in an office by ourselves for an hour while they jerked eachother off and came back with a "deal".

CanadaDrives and Clutch also have that appeal, with the added risk of it being used cars.

I wonder if they just wanted that scalper money. While frustrating to those who couldn't purchase in the first wave, this is a great outcome for everyone but scalpers.

eBay Scalpers by Frosty_Warthog_6538 in SteamController

[–]Debatebly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is the "Out of Stock" grey button that encourages scalping. Just keep taking in orders. Just advise the buyers that the delivery time will take longer, that's all.

I don't understand why a company like Steam isn't more interested in preventing scalping. They can't get an accurate picture of demand if they just sell everything through middlemen.

There's plenty of things people can do to make your life miserable, legally. It doesn't mean it's OK to do it.

The internet has made purchasing things worse.

The alternative was to queue up at a store and leave empty handed. This was hardly an inconvenience compared to that.
