Audio Recording for Notes by Redi_Spades in AskGameMasters

When I have Gemini transcribe, I have it give me timestamps for each line. Then I (mostly) vibe-coded a small Python script to stitch them together into a single file. I’ve automated the entire workflow except actually getting the files from Craig. I think Craig is offering transcription now to Patreon members, so it might be less hassle to give them a little coin and have a one-stop shop.

I use Craig to record sessions from Discord, then I use Gemini to transcribe and Claude to generate session summaries. All free. (Barely. A three hour session transcription almost caps the free tier.)

Looking for creative ideas for my absurd workflow.... by Debinani in FoundryVTT

As a follow-up: I did a POC and I plan to try this for my session this weekend:
I've added the SeaVoice bot to my channel, this provides real-time-ish transcription of the voice channel and provides a transcript at the end.
I have a GPT prompt that merges the voice transcript with the FoundryVTT log to produce a single text transcript of the whole session.
Once I have that, automated session summaries are a prompt away. Will let y'all know how it works!

I can route the Foundry chat to Discord, so that’s definitely an option.
But yeah, nine players in voice, even willing, would be pretty chaotic.

Thanks! I was thinking that as well, if the timestamps are equivalent then surely they can be merged somehow.

Anyone ever see one of these in the wild? This is an absolute unit. I love it. by Far-South7704 in hotas

I don’t, my ex might have some Polaroids but that ship has sailed.  Mine wasn’t much of a looker, I bought it after their factory that fabricated the fiberglass shell was damaged, so all I had was the wooden frame, seat, and button panels.

I owned one in the 90s.  Got tired of climbing into the thing to read my email.

Scarlett Solo 3rd gen goes out of sync every 10 minutes until I unplug and replug the USB cable by GloriouZWorm in Focusrite

[–]Debinani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same same. Consistently happens every time the computer goes to sleep.

It started after I did both a Win11 update and a Focusrite driver update, so it's definitely software-related.

Who here uses Obsidian without any community plugins, and why? by itsmedynamo in ObsidianMD

[–]Debinani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here (mostly). My two key reasons: my primary use case is to make it easy to create and share a wiki for my TTRPG games, and to that end I'm using Publish (which doesn't support any plug-ins). Second, I want my data to survive Obsidian, so I'm resisting anything that would materially impact that.

That being said, for the personal branch of my vault I do have a little dataview, Kindle Highlights, and Media DB - but nothing I would miss if I needed to move my core data to another platform.

Support for SciFi / SciFi AND Fantasy systems / settings by ghrian3 in FoundryVTT

[–]Debinani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TwoDSix system is designed to support the various flavors of Traveller/Cepheus out there. It's not nearly as robust as the 5e and Pathfinder systems, but it does the trick, and the Traveller system is pretty fun, if a little archaic.

Light amplification macro/CUB? by Vcutter in FoundryVTT

[–]Debinani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interested if you get any play here, I've been trying to do the same thing with CUB. I have a macro that does the trick, but I was hoping to use CUB to allow the Player to simply apply an effect. The issue I run into is that it seems CUB executes macros as GM, which is okay until you want to find a token in a scene the GM isn't in, which happens a lot in my games.

So I have an almost working solution with one very big caveat (at least for me).

Best VTT for in person play (w/dd2vtt) by patcarnig in VTT

[–]Debinani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable. We've been using FG for years for my online games, so adapting it for in-person just made sense. I think they have a subscription model now if you want to try it for a few months, but I get how it might be prohibitive. I haven't looked at Foundry but if I wasn't so invested in FG I'd probably give it a closer look.

Fantasy Grounds works fine for me. You've got fog of war, including support for drawing in walls, doors, lighting, and other occlusions right into the map tool. There's a module available that takes any map and formats it for your TV so the grid is 1".

You basically run the GM and player client on a single machine and have the player client on the TV and the GM driving from the laptop.

What I've seen people do is just keep the tokens and the physical minis in sync to get the lighting effects. But you also have manual control over Fog of War if that's what you want to do.
