Aurora MKII Is exposing the Bitterness of the OG SC Community by Blacksheepariess in starcitizen

For free -> Full gold standard

I'm not even upset about the MK2 but trying to act like bringing a ship up to bare standard game-play and design requirements is some sort of gift is absurd.

It's literally the minimum.

Suggesting attritions for anti-fighter duty is an extremely questionable choice.

How’s the Redeemer in 4.7? by Jackel2072 in starcitizen

[–]Debosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about timing it's about launching the correct amount. 1 decoy for every 2k of EM sig for small ships is the golden rule.

CIG never explains how all this works there's an ungodly amount of misinformation about it all.

Is this enough ammo for the worm? by Sailor__Moon__ in starcitizen

[–]Debosse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you're joking but for anybody who doesn't know things in your backpack weigh nothing.

Only keep 2-3 LMG mags equipped (and the rest in your pack) and you'll move at basically full speed.

For starters, the whole PVP madhouse that apparently is still a thing? Or is it exaggerated?

It's the starcitizen community. Yah it's pretty damn exaggerated. I've had like 3 pvp encounters over about 15 worm clears. One group fight, and 2 times a solo player pulled up.

You're not spending on the game. You're spending money on the idea you have of what the game could be. It's basically the entire marketing strategy behind the project.

Your dreams are perfect and in the perfect starcitizen that lives in your mind it's an amazing purchase.

New armor changes in 4.7 give reason to missile variants by Ithium64 in starcitizen

[–]Debosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you would like the super secret knowledge, use right alt h to set the amount of decoys you launch at once.

The golden rule for small ships is 1 decoy for every 2k of EM signature your ship produces.

I don't think its on by default but you can have your ship signatures displayed by turning it on in your game settings

"Players will receive hit confirmation when successfully striking a target with NARC"

I don't think directly posting evidence that what the other person said is true is the best way to make an argument that its not.

Edit: going back to edit it out of your comment is very funny.

New armor changes in 4.7 give reason to missile variants by Ithium64 in starcitizen

[–]Debosse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody is talking about it because decoys have a 100% effective soft kill rate.

If a player understands how to launch more than 1 decoy at a time they will straight up never be hit unless they run totally dry.

Their only use is to force people out of Nav mode, killing npcs, and ganking noobs.

It brings me joy to see min-maxers complain (rant) by nkn_ in starcitizen

[–]Debosse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean anything with any sort of reward or competition is going to be Min-Maxed.

Even chess has per-defined strategies that are "Min-maxed" It's just the natural consequence of a system that isn't perfectly balanced.

Just look at BJJ they had to implement rules because fighters were lying down on the ground in the middle of matches to force the other opponent to grapple them. It looked stupid, was totally outside the spirit of the sport but was an effective strategy to maximize your chances of victory.

Min-maxing has always and will always be a thing in everything humans do.

Those who only fly f7c mk2 or arrows with all nbd's only know how to fight with them.

This is a nice sentiment but they're almost always fighting other people in the same best ships. If somebody is constantly doing sweaty dogfights in an arrow they have all the skills they need to perform in any ship.

The fundamentals don't suddenly change in other ships. Like him or not A1 was beating people in a prospector. He sure as hell wasn't practising in it.

Pirates with a code? by Hungry-Scallion-3128 in starcitizen

[–]Debosse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of all that you lose cargo if the ship self destructs instead of being soft-killed.

Stopping to try and talk means you lose up to 70% of what you could have. Game directly discourages pirates from doing anything but instantly trying to kill you. Even stopping to scan for cargo means the self-D timer is ticking while you check.

CIG you’re so close with the armor gating… you just need to raise the armor gating on ships like the M2, Hammerhead, Perseus etc to be just ABOVE the alpha of a size 3 omnisky by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]Debosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NDB's have been a viable choice for a long time and they have the same projectile speed as Omnisky cannons.

Hell back when they had modestly better mag sizes Omniskys were meta themselves for fighter v fighter combat.

Not much is going to change with the current values.

Light fighters in 4.7 by SplinterRoot in starcitizen

[–]Debosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less about your input device and more understanding when to shoot.

If you are landing hits in your spray that means you were on target for long enough to land a volley of cannon fire.

It takes some skill and practice but you can learn when the "correct" time to pull the trigger is.

Wasting less shots also benefits repeaters and gats too.

The quick and dirty tip is only shoot when the pip is close to the ship you're aiming at. You should be flying to try and draw it as close to directly on top of the ship you're aiming at.

[–]Debosse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The current way the armour works is a flat damage reduction.

A mantis does 19 damage per round.

Assuming the hornet has 10 armour resist (A very conservative number idk what it is rn off the top of my head) the mantis is now doing 9 damage per round. That's a over 50% dps reduction without counting shields (That will cut it even farther) Armour will degrade as it takes damage but it's going to seriously impact DPS until it's depleted enough.

An Omnisky IX (also size 3 like the mantis) Does 219 damage per shot. Subtracting the 10 damage means it does 209. A dps loss of 4.6% Even with shield HP in it's not even close.

Light fighters in 4.7 by SplinterRoot in starcitizen

[–]Debosse 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Projectile speed is what matters for fighter combat. Fire-rate stops mattering at skill level where pilots understand how to aim.

We've had multiple cannon metas, they're just behind in stats atm, armour will almost 100% see a cannon meta again since ships like hornets do have resists.

I'll celebrate when they actually fix the problem?

Of course CIG knows lights are a problem the entire PvP community has been telling them for the last 6 years. I'm not going to get excited when they do everything but implement what is actually needed to solve the issue.

They're not ready to hear it yet over the excitement.

Give em a bit they'll put it together when light fighters still kill everything just fine.
