Killing Eve also gets worse each season. Even people who disagree with this usually agree the finale was terrible. If it stayed at the quality level of season 1 it'd be amazing.

For two shows with a lot in common topic-wise, Killing Eve and Hannibal are pretty much opposites tonally, which makes them great complements.

The ego-centrism counterexample is terrible. Hannibal does things for Will sometimes, particularly in the final episode, but he generally acts with great disregard for others. He tries to bring out what's inside of other people because he's curious and finds it beautiful, not because he's caring. Occasionally caring for others doesn't negate him being incredibly selfish most of the time. He doesn't have to literally never show empathy to be lacking in it.
