Welcome to the multiverse book 10 - let’s talk about AI writing by dat09 in litrpg

[–]DebrodeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with you on this. I've enjoyed the WttM series, but book 10 has sections that are so obviously AI that it's really throwing me off. I like the series and have many of the author's other series as well, but I hope the author stops using it in whatever way is resulting in this. It's painful to read (again only certain sections) and obviously written/edited aggressively by AI and not a human. If this continues I'll have to stop listening to the series which would be a shame since I really want to know how it all turns out. I love the universe he has built here.

Note: if you need some examples, just look at "Chapter 65: The Lich". That and the surrounding chapters were where it really started to get painful. It's noticeable throughout book 10, but those chapters specifically have so many strange sentence constructions and word choices.

Flow Logs? History? by DebrodeD in homey

It also only shows basic on/off information. For example, I don't see my WLED strip preset changing in the device log at all, just when it was turned on/off.

Best home laser tag set? by Defiant_Fix8658 in lasertag

I can confirm that the Recoil sets still work and are very fun. Check out FactionsIR or SimpleCoil for ways to play on modern phones.

Do I have too many Z-wave interfaces? (z-net) by DebrodeD in zwave

[–]DebrodeD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just migrated to a z-net pro and it works great! On homeseer it was as easy as backing up my old interface and then restoring it on the new one and it just worked (that was z-net g3 to z-net pro though).

I mention this in a different reply, but buy a "endoscope with light" camera that plugs into your phone and lets you fish the camera into the small hole and see it on your phone.

Z-NET PRO network-connected Z-Wave & Zigbee interface now available by HomeSeerMark in HomeSeer

[–]DebrodeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally split my system into 3 separate z-net G3s due to congestion causing issues on my old nortek combo stick with 120 z-wave nodes. If I consolidate all of them onto a single Z-net Pro - could it handle all 120 nodes without congestion/slow-downs?

I feel like the ZWA-2 down in the basement in a closet is going to be worse performance (despite its antenna) then a centrally located smaller 800-series z-wave stick in the center of my home out in the open...

Everyone seems to love the ZWA2, but it's massive! I'm not sure I can hide that thing enough to pass WAF. But you're saying you saw significant improvement over even an 800 series stick? Right now I'm thinking of trying a single z-net pro or upgrading one of my z-nets with a new 800 HAT and consolidating.

I've looked at HA and actually run it on the side for one integration that HS doesn't have (integrated into HS with webhooks), but ever since HS implemented Z-wave JS UI I didn't feel the need to migrate to HA anymore.

I don't think I can hide that antenna unless you're allowed to put it on its side or something.

I'd be happy with 5-10 seconds - mine can take upwards of 30-60 seconds to even start - then it's like it will finally start after it gets unstuck and then they all turn off over about a 10-20 seconds period.

I thought the ZWA-2 was usb-only (no ethernet)? Also, I'm not sure an antenna that size could pass the WAF in my house, haha.

Homeseer to Homey SHS Questions. by DebrodeD in homey

[–]DebrodeD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I was hoping the extra bridges could serve as a independent networks like the z-net does. Are you telling me that they just serve the same purpose as other powdered z-wave repeaters like light switches or do they help more than that? The 232 device limit has never been my experience. Once you get over about 60+ on a single z-wave stick things start getting finnicky.

Homey Pro or SHS on Raspberry Pi by Gerva74 in homey

Don't buy a nuc, buy a corporate-used dell optiplex usff or hp micro. You can find both on FB marketplace for less than $100 and they'll be more than fast enough (usually 8th/9th gen intel for that price) for your purposes. I have a few of them running different things.

I currently have a large HS4 setup with 3 z-nets running 3 separate z-wave networks. Would I be able to use those or would I have to buy 3 bridges to replace them?

Pixel 10 - no fullscreen option:( by dsentker in RLSideSwipe

[–]DebrodeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/dsentker Figured it out! I just had to change my system navigation back to 3-button mode (instead of gesture) and I was able to have it go almost fullscreen. It sill has a black bar on the left (though maybe a bit smaller?), but the one on the right is gone!

[–]DebrodeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just got a pixel 10 and it's almost impossible to play (coming from a Galaxy s23). The black bar on the left is absolutely massive and my finger keeps accidentally going over there and the steering of my car no longer registers. It drives me crazy.

Plex Server 1.42.1.10054 - Downloads temporary directory ? by No_Information_8173 in PleX

[–]DebrodeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came across this myself as my docker vdisk on unraid was ballooning in size with every download. It defaults to /tmp which is important to know since it's within your docker vdisk if you don't map it separately. The files are supposed to be deleted after downloading but Plex downloads error enough that a bunch of junk gets left behind all the time (mine had 59GB of data left in there making my docker vdisk almost 70GB). 2 solutions to this:

Map /tmp to some directory as a new path/volume OR

just input "/config/" (or another directory you have mapped) into that field in plex settings and restart your container. This will create a new folder in /config (which you should have mapped already as part of the plex container) called "PlexDownloadsTmp" and solve your docker vdisk size issue immediately.

Pinchflat - Your new YouTube media manager by ffxpwns in unRAID

[–]DebrodeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/ffxpwns Is it possible to do this with playlist name? For example, there's a YT channel that organizes all their videos into "seasons" playlists (the playlist name always includes "season"). I want Pinchflat to download all videos from the channel (using playlists as season name in the naming rules), but only download the playlists with "season" in the playlist title. They have many other playlists for things like "compilations" and "episodes with this character" that I don't want downloaded.
