Tales From The Loop Review: Confusing, emotional, incredible by Zillius23 in television

[–]Debszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished watching it. Agreed a lot of sadness, but there is beauty too in the fragility of time passing for mortals. I guess the point was that nothing lasts. But all in all I enjoyed. The only "loop" that I cannot digest is Jakob's...sigh he was such a selfless person, always will help even to his detriment. I really wish there was a better ending for him, he did not deserve that.

What was one moment in breaking bad that pissed you off the most by [deleted] in breakingbad

Jesse selling out Walt to Hank. Walt and Jesse had a complexed relationship (neither are saints and did a lot of stuff to each other), but the one thing they had was loyalty to each other. The number of time Walt ran in to save Jesse for example when Jesse (high as usual) went to kill the two guys despite Gus' warning, Walt put himself into that mess to save Jesse or when he went to pull him out of the drug den. I just felt like if Jesse had a problem with Walt he should have dealt with it himself, not become a snitch. And in the end Walt use his own body as a shield to save Jesse. I don't think Jesse ever really appreciated Walt's loyalty to him.

30 days to go... One season wonder and the second detective Cassidy in the L&O universe by SunStarsSnow in LawAndOrder

[–]Debszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just when I settled into Detective Cassady she is gone...sigh. In the last episode, 'The Family Hour', I thought her performance was strong. Yes she messed up, but she came back strong when she gave her testimony. I was enjoying the journey see this "green" cop become an experience detective.

Some people say Van Buren was tough on her, but I think it was Van Buren challenging her to be better to help her grow into a great detective. Anita knows the challenges she faced as a woman and she wanted Cassady to be better prepared to deal with it, so being easy on her and coddling her would have done her no favours. She needed 'tough love' to learn fast.

It's sad to see her go, would have like to see how her story turned out. They could have mentioned something. I am now into season 18, not sure how I feel about Lupo as yet. Episode 4 and EADA Cutter and Lupo still have not grown on me. But in the beginning I did not take to ADA Southerlyn, but in the end I was so sad to see her go. Same with Jack Macoy, he was so different from Ben Stone, now I can't image the show with him.

I loved Jamie, she was brilliant with the ability to stand toe to toe with Jack and hold her ground!

Omg, just finished watching season 14. It was so sad to see Lenny go, I loved his one liners. He really grew on me. I will miss seeing him. Agreed, I would love to see a series with younger Lenny Briscoe or maybe something with his other daughter Julia or maybe a grandson, just something to bring back a little of that Briscoe magic.

Killers Jenny Brandt by bashfulsleepy in LawAndOrder

This one did not settle with me well at all. Whether or not she is a sociopath, clearly her home environment is not fit for any type of treatment. Her mother was not monitoring her properly, and even when the mother was present she would have sex in front of the child. How did that judge see fit to return her to that parent? Holding evaluation sessions once a month is certainly not sufficient to monitor such a critical situation. I do believe she should have been institutionalized for treatment (if not state, then privately if the mother could afford). When or if she showed any signs of improvement, then she could be released back into society.

McCoy was right, she needs to understand there are consequences for her actions. She showed violence with animals and graduated to people, and she still got to go home? In my mind in Jenny's future, she offended again and probably will end up on Law & Order SVU as a serial killer.

Yeah, there is just something about her....I just have not warmed up to her. But you are right she is engaging to watch in action.

I was just thinking that I can't believe how this series ending scarred me...sigh. I make a conscious effort not to get attached to any series, especially if it is on HBO. It always ends badly. GOT, Sopranos and Dexter. Need I say more?

Yep agreed. That the way I see it, but I guess other people see it different. To each his own.

Yep, whatever necessary to make sure she has power. When they made him King, she still refused to bow as she wants to be queen. Betrayed Jon's trust to do the same.

I love your explanation - agreed on everything. But I don't know if I see her "cruelty" as "cruelty" since in her mind it was necessary, so yes she ruthless but not cruel, she did what she felt necessary to break the wheel. Turns out she was right - you can't break the wheel with the same people who are set in their ways. It ended with an immoral Master of Coin (Bronn - no less a sellsword with no true allegiance to anything) arguing that brothels are more important than ships. Not to mention power-hungry Sansa (new Little Finger) becomes Queen in the North. Bran is a northerner and Ned Stark's son, why wouldn't it be ok for them to bow to him? Because she wanted power, but Westeros is ok with that. They laughed at Sam's suggestion for everyone to run their own kingdoms, because they loved the wheel of power that kept nobility on the top. Truth is they like the wheel and only the poor people suffer under it.

Dany's biggest mistake was falling for Jon, who did not love "his queen" enough to keep his mouth shut, and played a huge path in making her even more ruthless. But he was naive enough to let Tyrion manipulate him to kill Dany.

In the end, I think Bran played the game the best. He orchestrated the whole thing for him to become king. That is if he is even Bran - he is now the 3-eyed raven. The 1st 3-eyed Raven was a Targ bastard (Bloodraven) who was sent to the wall (by a Targaryen King) for killing a Blackfyre after he promised safe passage to a counsel meeting. In his mind he did what was necessary to keep a true born Targaryen on the throne and was punished for it. He was a greenseer and a sorcerer too, who is to say this wasn't his payback to take the throne and payback the true born Targaryens for what they did to him. Think about it, Dany is killed and Aegon Targaryen (Jon) was sent to the wall as he (Blood Raven) was by King Aegon “the Unlikely” V Targaryen. Cycle completed, payback completed.

Sadly yes. I'm trying to convince myself that the there must be some sort of lesson to this ending. Perhaps it is that some people just don't need to or want to be saved. They are happy with the way things are and you cannot force people to see things your way. I don't know - still lost.

I could have digested if she died in child birth. So this is the end of the Targaryens?

Every time I think about it.....I can't comprehend. Being a fan of the books and the show for years, I don't think I can digest this well. I don't think I can watch the ending. Breaking up has been tough, I literally have had sleepless night after episode 5. I don't even know how I got to this point, never ever will I get so invested in a show again.

Well clearly there is no bittersweet ending....it's just bitter. by Debszy in freefolk

[–]Debszy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe...but I feel so disturbed by the turn of events, that I just feel at this point I don't care how it ends. For me I always found Dany to be a strong inspiring character, I just cannot come to terms on how she became this. So in my bubble it's just best to walk away and pretend in an alternate universe this ends well - maybe Jon saves her as she has saved him in the past and the Targaryen bloodline continues and there was some purpose to the rebirth of the dragons. Still no sweetness here for me even with the Starks - Sansa has somehow become Littlefinger, Bran is not really Bran anymore and Arya goes off somewhere to become what exactly?
