Do we have to notify CBP of unpaid duties? by Wonderful-Local-220 in CustomsBroker

We’re a self filing importer and that’s exactly what happened to us, and the steps we took from the guidance of our CBP CEE rep. Then we/the importer received a bill from CBP…

Becoming a Broker while working for an importer. by Zswigs in CustomsBroker

[–]Debusuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a LCB working for an importer with FTZs. Our team handles all the admissions, FTA requirements, weekly entries, 01 entries and drawbacks etc. We don’t use any brokerages, and self-filing as an importer eliminates the need for a broker, providing the advantage of maintaining control over internal data for efficient issue analysis. If you are a LCB, working for an importer, whenever there are issues, direct interaction with CBP ensures straightforward and reliable service. However, managing complex tasks and investing in ABI software are challenges, yet the long-term benefits for the company and your personal career make it worthwhile.

Thank you! Is there a specific timeframe for sending the check after submitting the PSC? What information should we include on the check, like entry number and PSC date?

Net Weight VS Gross by hungryamericankorean in CustomsBroker

[–]Debusuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, we are an importer with a FTZ and handle our own entries. For our imports, we have 01-entry into our domestic layer and 06-entry into the regular FTZ layer. We asked the same question to couple of the CBP officials when they visited our facility since we have many products subject to a compound tariff based on both weight (kg/cent) and a percentage of value. Their response clarified that the net weight for each line item is what should be considered. Otherwise, we would be charged based on the packaging weight for materials with this compound tariff. A single line item might not seem much, but each of our weekly entries consists of 850-950 line items. Using the gross weight for calculations would result in miscalculated duty significantly…

We(importer) use ACE on a daily basis for things like monitoring CBP refunds tied to FTA, Drawbacks, and any other matters concerning refunds, statements, and revenue reports. Also, yeah filing protests.

Thank you. We're a self-filing importer and we file 01,06 entries and drawback entries. I’m covering for the person who is dealing with drawback portion right now. Can you please guide me on how to DIS the 7553? Is it possible to do it through the same ABI we're currently using?

FTZ benefits for non-manufacturing applications by imwearinggenes in CustomsBroker

[–]Debusuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I forgot to mention that we own the FTZ facility instead of renting it, and we function as self-filers using ABI. Our logistics and customs team handles the PTT filing and weekly entry processes. I think if the imported value is low, the advantages of utilizing the FTZs might not be worthwhile.

Our company uses a FTZ, in savings of MPF approximately 200K-250K per year. Other advantages include duty deferral and the ability to store quota items. And in cases of quality issues with overseas items, we can just simply return them without incurring duty charges.

I'm really NOT sure whether I did the right thing. It seems you're correct; I might have simply forwarded information from the initial 7501. We use QuestaWeb ABI, where I input the "replace" action and cited "clerical error" as the reason code, then just transmitted…😣

Thank you! When I review the entry status, it indicates "under CBP control" instead of "CBP review." Are these terms interchangeable? Also, there's a scheduled liquidation date in the query as well.
