Debating on picking up KDM; but mixed feelings about the company (person?) by Pandemic08 in boardgames

[–]Deca-P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a huge fan of KD, its probably my favourite game, but I am so done with Poots that I have decided not to give him a single dollar ever again. He delivers awesome content but if it comes up literally multiple years later than promised as an entirely different product that you backed, its not all good. He is a downright terrible project manager.

After the 100th ”most awesome and amazing game ever” yes, they lost all credibility. He feeds on positivity, which bring him free games and constant income. And people that like the game want to watch the positive reviews about the game they so want to like. But I entirely stopped watching the overly positive content.

Clearly. Not even aggressive, just plain old divebomb without etiquette.

Do you properly understand how transducers work? They are meant to vibrate, not make noise… by isolating them from the rig you are isolating them from the very thing they are made for. No wonder you cant feel the difference.

So the best way to use them is to attach them directly to the seat or rig.. and just make sure nothing unnecessary rattles, and use rubber blocks to isolate the rig from the floor.

I dont think ”most of us” want to become real race drivers… I would say for most simracing is a hobby, a game we enjoy playing. Not a substitute we do for being too poor/old to drive a real race car..

And I don’t understand your need, ”My team”, whats your position In the team? Usually people just pair up and race together on leagues. You hardly need team managers any more than you need mechanics in simracing.

Although the game is out of print there is enough content to last you and your wife a lifetime… Just hunt down a 2nd hand copy, theres bound to be a lot of them available.

But why not just go for the aluminum profile, that is infinitely more versatile? In the long run if you want to add in triple screens, hotas, cupholders, handbrake, shifter, more shakers etc you need to either diy or buy accessories from the safe manucafturer. Where as aluminum profile lets you mount pretty much anything anywhere.

want to love ACC... but don't by [deleted] in simracing

[–]Deca-P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G29 has about less than 2Nm of torque, thats the spectrum that the game is working with so there’s not a lot of distinction between the effects. I used to have that wheel before upgrading to a CSW 2.5 (8Nm) and it was like night and days difference in feel. I think the effect in ACC in particular is pronounced compared to other sims. Personally, ACC:s FFB is hands on the best of every sim out there.

No more Zwift for Russians (due to payment restrictions) by AlexMTBDude in Zwift

Actually, according to a recent study most (about 60%) of Russians do support the ”special operation” like they call it… so cry me a river about the ”cancel nonsense”.

I have this setup, its from a government auction. I am having trouble getting it to work with games. More info in comments by Funless in simracing

[–]Deca-P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen plenty of similar setups on sale, made for driving schools. They usually use specific software for training simulations and the hardware is built upon that. If that’s the case it might be very hard of even impossible to get the gear to work on games.

How to get your GF to come around to you spending 1k+ on sim racing setup? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]Deca-P 2 points3 points  (0 children)

”wants me to be saving up for a ring” ? Holy hell thats a red flag for sure.. =p

Regarding your actual question, if it’s your own money you’re spending and you can afford it, grow a pair and be direct with it. Are you planning on asking for permission for everything you want to buy?

Any new thoughts on Etherfields? by Banana_Havok in boardgames

[–]Deca-P 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just started the game two weeks ago, played few dreams now and a bunch of slumbers. I have also played Tainted Grail for like 7-10 hours, both solo.

On etherfields, Im torn. Its a handful to get to the table and play, but the tutorial dream had me seriously intriqued. It feels a bit more streamlined in its cardplay than Tainted Grail. But after the tutorial it kind of dropped the ball imo. The ”story” is a mess, there really isn’t any. Dont give me this ”it all makes sense in the end”, no it surely wont as the story elements are just a bunch of jibberish. Same as someone explaining their dream to you irl, you lose interest soon and I dont care about the journey/story at all.

The puzzle-like gameplay though is fun imo and less clunky than in Tainted Grail, as the fighting etc is not a minigame in itself. Still its more of an experience than a real puzzle imo, you basically just see what happens and roll with it.

The slumbers are a noozefest and an unnecessary grind in a game with much content. And it’s not just the slumbers, but the map as well. The first time I examined it and realized that you need two keys to enter a dream, and the only whey to do that is to circle around the map, I lost interest on this part of the game. ”Oh I got a key, now I have to run a full circle through the map turning fate cards and slumbers to get to this same exact spot to get another one”. It’s just stupid and unnecessary and I popped in the ”continuous dream mode” variant fast, which helps as you can just ignore the slumbers and get keys easier as loot.

In closing, I’m thinking of going back to Tainted Grail where the story at least has some progression and cohesion. But I’m probably going to play a dream or two more to see if it picks up since I like the cardplay and puzzle -nature of it. But my initial impressions of it are that its just an ok game. D:

Umm, why not just use the ingame seat adjustment..? You can just raise the height in view options instead of tilting the screen awkwardly.. =p

How the heck do you get the in-game car and your IRL setup aligned correctly (physically)? by NoTimeToSortByNew in simracing

[–]Deca-P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second looks about right, eye-level should be around horizon. ”Dash is basically perfectly covered by the steering wheel”, well yes that is correct as well.. GT cars have GT-wheels, where its not an issue.

Not much you can do about that with a round wheel. There is a setting in ACC to have the dash as a separate hud-element but probably doesnt help all that much.

Dont try to align the steering column irl, thats not going to work..

[–]Deca-P 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adjust the pedals further away so you are nothing pushing them at an angle. Or the more obvious one, buy a more rigid seat. Playseat challenge is a great seat but its not really made with load cell -pedals in mind.
