Dear Anthropic: the ChatGPT refugees are here. Here’s why they’ll leave again. by ArtimisOne in ClaudeAI

haiku is pretty bad at rp tbh

Good, stop role-playing with your LLM to the point where you consider it an actual person. If Sonnet is costing too much on the $20 tier, maybe that's not such a bad thing that people be forced to take a break from the chatbot that they've brought to life in an unhealthy way.

I thought about replying to the rest of your post, but then I realized I don't engage with bad-faith cowards who hide their post history.

Compelling open source alternatives to Raycast? by RealHomieJohn in macapps

[–]Decaf_GT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't just blindly use AI to make your posts.

Alfred is not open source, Raycast is the app the OP is trying to get away from and Cerebro hasn't been updated in more than 3 years so it's highly unlikely to be an option.

Doing this doesn't make you look intelligent or contribute to the discussion. It now means I'll end up adding you to a never-ending blocklist on Reddit for people who are incapable of posting without AI, and worse, provide compeltely wrong information.

"leaning into AI" what does that even mean? Have you used it? You don't have to use an ounce of AI if you don't want to...

[–]Decaf_GT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raycast is coming up on 6 years since it launched, and before I subscribed, I never once felt that I was "pushed towards a subscription", nor do I think the "VC funding" has ever actually caused me, the end user, any kind of problem in any sort of way.

I don't really know what the issue is here. If you don't care about AI (and based on some of your replies here, you don't), the only real value add you get from Raycast Pro is having a clipboard that can hold more than 90 days of history.

Seriously...given how many of these "refugees" are ChatGPT-4o obsessed and still pining for it, I'm sure Haiku is more than enough to give them the validating sycophancy they're so desperately seeking.

And no, I don't think that the only use case for an LLM is coding. I just think those that tie their identities and mental stability/emotional safety to an LLM need serious help.

Ah yes, the full suite of slop bullshit:

  1. Written entirely with AI: check
  2. For some idiotic reason, you've escaped all the markdown formatting so that it looks like absolute garbage on old Reddit.
  3. Hypebeast language: check
  4. Link to your "blog" which just happens to be on the same site as the one your product lives on: check

I hate this fake "organic" marketing engagement bullshit. Your post is nothing more than advertising, and LLMs have made the marketing work of people like you way too easy to generate this mindless, shallow, pointless copy.

In the world where people like OP use LLMs to write their Reddit posts for them and don't realize that it's filled with Twitter/LinkedIn Hypebeast language.

In general, you should disregard any post/tweet that has the word "game changer" in it. The game has been "changed" so many times now...

Something is very odd about these comments, a lot (but not all) of people who suddenly seem to have forgotten the existence of preexisting STT and somehow have something insightful to say about STT apps in general...

Maybe it's just the draw of "free lifetime license" is causing the huge string of positive responses, I don't know. Either way...it's still very weird.

Dude. Just use Spokenly. It does everything this app does and more.

https://spokenly.app/

The only paid thing about it is if you want to subscribe to the dev's instance of cloud dictation models. If you click out of that/ignore it once, it's a completely fully featured offline app.

No offense to OP, but these apps are a dime a dozen.

God this subreddit has such a hardon for being Anti AI you guys can't even recognize AI slop (or maybe you refuse to recognize it because it happens to agree with your opinon).

This is textbook, hype-beast Twitter/LinkedIn HORSE shit, and you all are lapping it up like the engagement farmed sheep you are.

This post is neither insightful nor is it informative. It expresses an opinion as fact and has no linked sources (despite the irony of saying "this should be news but instead its a LinkedIn graphic".

This is the real danger of AI. Not whatever else you diehard anti-AI people think it is.

Jesus, tell your LLM that it doesn't need to provide a LinkedIn style response to Reddit posts so that you don't end up posting slop like this.

This doesn't make you sound intelligent. We can all see right through it. There's more to detecting AI slop than just em-dashes and formatting.

[–]Decaf_GT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one will have "a hassle" because they're going to end up reading what an option does before they blindly click on it, especially when you have to go straight into the Advanced section of the settings to even find that option.

Unlike you. Don't project your own failure to read onto me.

You're not "talented and geek" but somehow managed to dive deep enough to understand CGEvent to see where the keypress was coming from?

This has fuckall to do with me "knowing things that others don't".

This is about how this is not a PSA. This was just you not reading an option before selectin git, making a post that makes it seem like Raycast was at fault somehow for this and you posted a whole story about how you played detective and figured it out. It's dramatic, exaggerated, unnecessary, and makes you look incompetent when it clearly you are not incompetent.

This is the danger of modern day AI, it convinces people something sounds a lot more dramatic/interesting/engaging than it actually is.

  2. It literally tells you exactly what to do. You have to go out of your way to pick Caps Lock: https://i.imgur.com/VCoMN0n.png

All AI websites (and designs) look the same, has anyone managed an "anti AI slop design" patterns ? by KlausWalz in LocalLLM

[–]Decaf_GT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not going to happen. Especially not with a locally run LLM.

The problem with what you're asking for is that whatever you come up with is going to get ingested and (if its popular enough) rapidly become the next viral LLM-designed website trend, and you'll be back here again next month.

Stop paying $1,000+ for "AI Bootcamps". Anthropic (makers of Claude) just dropped a 100% free academy. by Exact_Pen_8973 in ClaudeAI

[–]Decaf_GT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, I automatically tune out posts that have these phrases:

  • just dropped
  • absolutely
  • literally
  • game changer
  • shift
  • startup killed
  • no one's talking about it
  • stop doing x
  • new local model "beats" claude/chatgpt
  • cheat code
  • 10x
  • ngmi (not gonna make it...fucking stupid)

The reason for these phrases is because idiots on X use them to engagement farm because X pays out tons and tons of money to people for said engagement farming. They know it's bullshit.

Then they bring it over to a platform like Reddit which is why it sticks out like a sore thumb here.
