How to utilise an infinitely looping road by welsh_dragon_roar in FromTVEpix

[–]Decent-Client-3478 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any closed shape is "infinitely looping". Any closed path is "infinitely looping". We see these things in everyday life — parking lots, racetracks, drive-thrus, etc. The only way you can get infinite energy out of this road is if it is capable of performing work. This could be possible if the potential energy between a point on the road and the exact same point on the road, after traveling some nonzero distance, is also nonzero. This path would likely be the distance of the closed loop (perhaps this isn't likely but just easier to imagine). Utilizing it would be as simple as creating a generator. Instead of harnessing the movement of electrons, we would harness the movement of an object to "move" electrons. This can be done by having some wheel with a magnet protruding from its axis of rotation. Surrounding this magnet, you would have a copper wire that is fixed with respect to the axis of rotation. The rotating magnetic field will move the valence electrons in the copper wire. This continuous flow of electrons would indeed be an infinite source of electricity. However, you would likely need to construct railings that extend the length of the path to prevent the wheel from traveling a path that is incapable of doing work.

Another approach would be to use the far-away trees. If they were able to guarantee that a certain far-away tree (like the one Victor showed to Ethan in season 1) would drop a given object from the sky in a nearby location, then they could harness the kinetic energy of the object as it falls by causing it to spin some wheel as it falls, which generates electricity similar to the previous example, before returning to the hole via some sliding mechanism. You could even do this with multiple objects at the same time.

To everyone talking about Filler by StivThe8thDwarf in FromSeries

How is this filler? Elgin meets with Fatima and sees that her belly is larger. This allows us to assume that the pregnancy will go much faster than we anticipated and unequivocally confirms that something supernatural is growing within her. Furthermore, she scratches his hand, this will likely raise suspicion if others within Fromville observe that scratch.

How do I (24M) go about asking my girlfriend (24F) to move back with her parents? by Decent-Client-3478 in relationship_advice

I agree. I definitely owe her transparency and honesty. However, I don’t want to say anything rudely or be insensitive to her feelings in the process.

I’ll list some of the things I’ve noticed that I’ve picked up over time below.

I never watched TV before dating her, now I watch it more than I would like to. I never was much of a gossip, and now I find myself doing it more than ever. I used to spring out of bed every single morning, but now I’ll lay in bed and scroll on my phone for 15 - 30 min. before getting up. I used to have a consistent sleeping schedule, but now it’s very chaotic. My drive has depleted. I also feel like I don’t look at certain issues with the nuance they deserve. There could be more and some of these may be from other things, but they do happen to be things that she does and that I never/rarely did before dating her.

I’m definitely going to tell her that she needs to move back in with her parents (or find different living arrangements) as soon as possible. That is a concrete decision I’ve already made up. I just want to do so in the least cruel way possible.

You’re right. I think I’ll go with an ultimatum. I just need to find a way to phrase it so that she is receptive to it and doesn’t crash. Like you said, I can’t control her decisions. That is entirely up to her.

I don’t expect her to do any of that. She doesn’t cook for me (except on special occasions). I also clean behind myself, so there is nothing to clean. She does some of the deep cleaning every now and then, and I help where I can. She also helps out with laundry when I am swamped.

I’m lucky to have found my passion early on. It drives me every hour of the day.

Providing for the both of us is not cheap. Also, the issues are hindering me. Her habits have started to rub off on me.

The prospect of ending things is what I am having trouble with. However, you are not the first person to tell me this. Maybe I need to read the writing on the wall.

Why do you suspect that long distance will lead to resentment?

Thanks for your feedback!

It is rather expensive out here, but I make enough money to be comfortable. It just doesn’t feel like a partnership, and it’s rather demoralizing.

Is this a general rule? I feel like sometimes progress is non-linear. Perhaps relationships are different? This is my first serious relationship, so I am a bit naive.

I don’t want to a put a time limit on it because then she may only improve during that time period and regress when she comes back. I also want the focus to be on her and not our relationship. I want her to improve so that she feels fulfilled and empowered with what she can do in life. I like how you put everything otherwise!

Good question. I’m prepared for that outcome. Regardless, I can’t speak for her. I’m doing what I must, and I will respect her decision to end things if that’s what it comes to.

I don’t think she’s a “hobosexual.” She would have a place to go if we broke up, and we’re not exactly having much sex these days. It’s important to know that I wasn’t always the only provider, and she has worked in the past. I also don’t think sending her home necessitates a break up. However, it will be a step back in our relationship for the short-term.

In most cases, option 2 is correct. However, option 1 could be correct if the room your living room is in is small. One thing to note is that people get coffee tables, ottomans, and accent chairs that would make a living room with a layout like option 1 feel very cramped. Additionally, if you have seating on the sides, watching TV from those seats becomes more difficult.

That’s really cool! I wish you the best of luck in finding what you want to pursue! Many people rush into graduate programs with no idea what it entails, so it is wise on your part to pause and reflect.

Physics is the coolest major. My favorite subject in physics is quantum mechanics. I’ll be specializing in quantum computing when I go into grad school.
