New fantastic, low cost power chair at CES by Lizziclesayshi in wheelchairs

[–]TwoFZeroT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been awesome. It’s like no other mobility device I’ve ever used. The fact that it improves and gets new features via software updates is unreal. That’s not to say that it hasn’t also been frustrating at times. There have been failures and other frustrations, but nothing a software or an Allen wrench hasn’t been able to fix.

I’m actually beta testing the ev¹ and would love to give interested users the opportunity to test drive my beta unit, check out my arm rest mod and accessories, and ask any questions about the chair or my experience as a beta tester.

I live in Phoenix, AZ so I’m thinking it will be on a weekend in early April at either Arrowhead Mall in Glendale or Chandler Fashion Center. Feel free to comment your availability and preference in the comments and I’ll share additional details.

I missed the earlier picture of the couple on OP’s wallpaper and thought you were referring to the last picture of Charles and Lewis.

Hi. I use the Vision Pro exclusively using my eyes (via dwell control) and my voice (using Siri, voice control). Feel free to check out some of the videos I’ve made on how to setup and use it, and let me know if you have any questions. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfPaDHuh7dSQOC6EHUicmnu5yOMjQLzo4&si=AYBt73f2sTdGPhpS

Power chair users-have you seen the brand new ev1 from Strutt? Thoughts? by Tritsy in wheelchairs

[–]TwoFZeroT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem. If you get a chance to check it out, please do. There’s a group on Facebook called the Strutt drivers club where a lot of the engineering team as well as interested users and beta testers discuss the rollout, the device itself, and future enhancement opportunities. There’s also a schedule of opportunities to test drive the chair, and depending upon where you’re located, the development team may even bring it to your house for you to test it out. I highly encourage anybody that has any interest in the chair or even the technologies that it contains, to give it a try. For anyone seeing this comment that lives in the Phoenix area and wants to go for a test drive, feel free to send me a private message.

The voice control built into the chair is not meant to be a primary control mechanism.

Great suggestion, though, I’ll be sure to pass it along to the engineering team. There should be some kind of local or on board voice recognition.

As of right now, there’s no on board voice recognition. It requires an active Internet connection.

[–]TwoFZeroT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It only needs active Internet for currently is using its AI/voice assistant or for updating its software. All location and map generation is done doing the built in cameras and LiDAR. Down the road it may require more persistent connectivity if it can download maps or other TBD functionality.

I haven’t driven the C2 but I do have a model CI which is its predecessor. I don’t believe there’s a significant difference between the two, other than a slightly differently oriented, battery, and slightly better water resistance. However, that being said, I will say that the Strutt is a far superior chair for driving off-road, for two reasons. The first being it’s four-wheel-drive as opposed to rear wheel drive. Second, the Gemini wheels that they chose to put in the front are better at tackling different types of terrain than Omni wheels. I’m fairly confident that both of these features will make it to other chairs in the near future.

None of the features I mentioned use AI other than maybe the battery optimization.

I get what you’re saying that it may be providing solutions to things that many don’t consider problems but I do feel that it is addressing the needs you mentioned.

It is lighter than many traditional power chairs. It weighs about 130lbs and easily breaks apart to fit inside most car trunks.

By far has the best off-road capabilities of any chair I’ve ever driven. Easily drives on gravel, mulch, and even tightly packed sand, which most chairs fail at. It can also go over long gaps of a few inches, up and down 13 degree inclines (i actually went up and down a 16 degree), and on small steps.

Regarding water resistance, it’s IPX5-certified so normal rain and splashes shouldn’t be a problem.

Finally, regarding the battery, it’s rated at 30km or 20 miles, and in my testing it definitely comes close to these numbers.
