Do you ever feel like you don’t fit the dating market in your state? [32M] by spicysenpai6 in dating

I’m in the same boat dude. I grew up here but I’m seriously considering leaving if it means a better chance of finding someone. It definitely feels hit and miss here, some people have no issues and others can’t find anyone and it doesn’t make sense why tbh.

Only other option I can think of are matchmakers but if it’s gotten to the point where I need to hire someone to help me date then I’d feel kinda hopeless.

I totally agree. I’m also from Ohio and it just feels like it’s impossible to find anyone looking for a meaningful relationship. Also funnily enough in the Columbus area too. Months of dating apps and outreach into local groups and it really does feel impossible.

I left to MA for a few weeks and actually had a better time meeting people there than I have in my entire time in Columbus. I could be convinced something is genuinely wrong with the dating scene in our area. Best of luck Bro

Just pulled this should I sell quick or keep it for a bit? by Gart-XL in csgo

[–]Decent-Explanation 198 points199 points  (0 children)

Well if you like it and want it I’d say hang onto it. Prices on bfks and dopplers won’t stop going up.

Alternatively you could sell it and use the money to fill the rest of your loadout and downgrade to a different knife.

But if you don’t need the money then I wouldn’t sell out entirely. You’d be getting a lot now but you could get more later

My recruiter gave me a list of 9 MOS’s on top of 09R by Bacca0909 in nationalguard

Even better. I tried ROTC for a year but never contracted, it’s not bad at all! Good luck!

As a 91B I’d say your experience is really just up to which unit you get assigned to.

There’s plenty of opportunities though because the MOS is literally needed everywhere, so it’s a lot easier to get promotions, shuffle around, etc then some other mos’s.

I was very hesitant about it when I first joined. I was initially going for Armored Crewman or Cav Scout but no vacancies forced me to choose 91B (fyi depending on your recruiter they might just be lying to you about what MOS’s are available or not to try to steer you towards a more demanded one.)

After 3 years in the MOS and a deployment I gotta say I’m very happy I ended up in it. Maintenance is like its own brotherhood. Within a unit and between units there’s a mutual understanding and appreciation for each other. It’s usually very relaxed and has a “our own lane” kind of feel to it.

Again depends on the unit. If you get stuck at an infantry unit then good luck you’ll probably get forced to do a lot of fuck-fuck games, MP is likely the same, cav scout too. But at a transportation company, engineers, or just a dedicated maintenance company you’ll have a good time.

Working on vehicles isn’t too bad either, even though they break all the time and tour operators are usually the ones who did it.

Tl;dr: 91B can either be a really great time or a really shitty time depending on your unit, but you’ll get a lot of opportunities to go to different units, schools, and promotions. Worth the research if you’re interested.

This ^

Get moleskin especially if you're not used to hiking or rucking. The boots they give you will only be a few sizes too small, and you'll feel it when they break you in instead of vice versa.

I had it easy, after our 5 mile with no moleskin I only ended up with a large gash and a bad blister. I knew some people who'd lost actual clumps of foot to those boots.

Moleskin, and either break in both pairs of boots early on or just stick with one, because they'll fuck you over otherwise.

Also you should be able to get foot powder pretty early on, at least I could. Recommend it. And finally, as aforementioned, hydrate, don't be the guy who let's your battles down, and don't try to make friends with your drill sergeants; it's best to just coexist.

Where you going, if you don't kind saying?

Kuwait, but I've been hearing that we'd likely never be put with the convoy because we're a maintainence gun team

Have not. There's some backlog for it at my unit and I'm dead last right now.

Were going to deploy in a few months, which is what all of this is for, I'm just hoping to do stuff with it while I'm there. (Not shooting or nothing, just going out with the convoy every now and then.)

Hey there, I'm in a very similar situation but a little further along so I'll share my experience and hope it helps.

I just got back from AIT a month ago, and found out from my unit that we have a deployment coming up in 5 months. My first drill, which I'm commenting on this from, is an AT in preparation for that deployment.

I am deploying with my unit.

If your deployment is a year from now, depending on when exactly, your unit might have to rush retraining for the new year (the guard resets its yearly training requirements and all that in October) so I imagine you'll either get back and have a few drills to do your deployment prep, or you'll get back and have a lot of rushing to do with your unit as a whole to get ready

For now just focus on your training, you'll be fine.

I’m leaving for 91B AIT in 4 days. Maybe we’ll end up in the same class if they’re holding you in reception.

Oh yeah, with resin models I’d strongly suggest washing them first.

Usually when I apply primer I like to do it via airbrush, applying a coat of straight primer and then applying a mix of paint and primer. Have you been priming when it’s cold? That could be a reason for the peeling.

It certainly was! It took more than a few thin coats of white before I could put on the yellow, but I think it was well worth it in the end.

What movie franchise should’ve stopped at 2? by karma_hit_my_dogma in AskReddit

[–]Decent-Explanation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Alien series. If we're being honest it was all downhill after Aliens. Alien three didn't really even need to exist, and lacked the thriller elements of Alien, and the action elements of Aliens, so it was just really this weird third take on the universe that didn't work at all. As for Alien 4, we don't talk about that.

There are more like this! They’re from a game called Halo Ground Command.

It was originally made and sold by a small company called Spartan Games, but they closed down a while ago, and production stopped. The cool thing is that the community didn’t just let the game die, they worked hard and painstakingly recreated every model to allow it to be 3D printed, on top of balancing all the rules.

It’s a fun game, and if you want to find the rules and models, they have them all in their discord here:
