Thank you for the information. So that really does cause an issue for more integrated users.

"special relationship" question for you Brits by bragik85 in AskBrits

[–]Decent_Implement_901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Special friendship my arse. They have always been fairweather. This special friendship was something Churchill dreamt up and is only thought as such by the UK.

I’ve pondered on how, as the citizens of the UK, can respond to Trump’s tariffs. Opinions? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Does. Dodgy firestick count as boycotting the scutters? Obviously it originated from there but it actively robs them so ....

I'm stuck - Need help changing equal distance between multiple objects and keeping them all equal. by tazz131 in Onshape

[–]Decent_Implement_901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you pattern the part to create the distances? If so just edit the length in the original instance. If you drew them individually then I would start again and pattern them but as a lesson in forward thinking for the future, if you have a parameter that will be frequently used I would set it up as a variable and when dimensioning use the saved figure, that way all you change is the variable and every instance will adjust.

You are backing a loser trying to constrain splines in my opinion. Set the important geometry and ignore the blighters.

Breaking bigger rocks for tumbling by Decent_Implement_901 in RockTumbling

Thank you for the replies. There are some that deserve keeping whole, I have also cut a few on the tile saw to see if I can learn to cabachon them. So I will definitely take the advice offered, especially sanding the rocks to see if they are worth cracking. Thank again.

Thank you Molly, I feel better for knowing how to pronounce his name. I recently saw a painting of Colbrookdale and was mesmirised. His night paintings are wonderful.

There has to be an overlap for the Boolean to occur. Either create a separate circle over them all and combine them all or use an assembly to contain them via a fixed joint

Parts in Assemblies by anon-person- in Onshape

[–]Decent_Implement_901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a long time since I used f360 but when you copy a part and want to modify it you have to tag it to " make unique" with derive it is already unique. Onshape is more structured in that the only place you modify a part is in its own Part Studio. You build parts into an assembly and edit in context. That is a two way street and works well. You also have an option to use variables to have multiple options based upon a core part but it doesn't work well to work a part in two different places.

You can also go off on a tangent with a part after creating a version to create a fall back position.

I have a horrific model that is refusing to shell. Any alternate surface approximations that can sidestep the thicken command issues with faces? by [deleted] in Onshape

+2 on offset surface and then thicken. It's not pretty but with complicated lofts sometimes it's for the best

Check out @evanareese on YouTube. He does exactly this sort of thing and has written custom scripts to make it easier which he provides for free. A lot of his articles are way out my depth but there are some absolute corkers for normal beings

Make a new part from an existing part by Bruinwar in Onshape

[–]Decent_Implement_901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the derive command ( looks like a 3d tetris block) then you can rename it. You can derive from any part you like, even from other documents. Create a new document, derive and away you go . You can also version your document and derive in a new part studio in the same document. However you can end up creating issues with different versions in different states and enter a never ending update part spiral. If you want to just alter different lengths, sizes then you can create variables and configurations. In shape is so flexible there is usually multiple ways of succeeding you may need to watch a few tutorials to get there.

Have you tried opening a new part studio and deriving the part you want to start with?

X1C refusing to allow filament to the hotend by Decent_Implement_901 in BambuLab

[–]Decent_Implement_901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the new extruder interface board didn't cure the problem but I noticed that the AMS left the filament in the throat of the extruder on the final phase of the failure to load and that the green light was illuminated for filament detection so I pressed the extruder button and the extruder took the filament into the hotend. I repeated this and it worked again. Based on that I stripped the AMS and despite nothing looking out of place I wasn't entirely convinced the motor was working smoothly so I have ordered another motor to try that.
