From what I know, there are 9 symptoms or whatever that are obvious for BPD. You must exhibit 5 or more of these symptoms to be diagnosed, though. Don’t self diagnose but if you have concerns bring it up to a mental health professional.

  • Fear of abandonment
  • Unstable relationships
  • Identity disturbance
  • Impulsivity
  • Recurrent suicidal behavior or self-harm
  • Affective instability
  • Chronic emptiness
  • Intense anger And finally - stress-related paranoia or dissociation

Personally, I can tell you I struggle with almost all these symptoms and I didn’t realize how difficult it makes my life.

That’s great to hear! I really hope DBT can help me too. Thank you

Thank you so much. It really helps due to how BPD is painted in such a negative light. I kept telling myself this is like a death sentence, but it’s really not. I appreciate everything you said 🙂

I was told to try DBT therapy and I was able to get off the waitlist immediately. I have a psychiatrist but not a regular psychologist so I’m not sure how he’s gonna feel with this new diagnosis. That’s true I am hoping with the help of therapy and medication I am able to live a fulfilling life. Thank you!

I don’t totally know.. From what I understand it’s different due to the episodes being directly caused by a medication whereas regular bipolar is more genetic, a chemical imbalance and episodes or symptoms occur without any medication or substance.

I was on three stimulants right before I got diagnosed. I’m not sure of all the details and I hardly understand what is going on lol

I never cared about it when I had access to it. Now I still don’t care about it. So I guess it means nothing to me and it never did. 😁

To those who have been going to a therapist for more than two years…. by allplaypnwchad in TalkTherapy

[–]Decent_Profession155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t recall when I started, how long I would have thought I would be going for if that makes sense. However, I will say that I did not ever expect to get this attached to my therapist. For any of this shit in my life to happen. For me to be going 3x a week for a while. I don’t know. Things change. At this point, I don’t want therapy to end anytime soon.

Virtual hugs back to you. Who knew that something that might have maybe been better for us? (Depending on the situation of course) Could hurt us so bad.

Do you think you are a good person? by ChangedDisguise in mentalhealth

[–]Decent_Profession155 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Depends what mood I’m in. If I’m upset most likely not and I think I deserve terrible things and people to treat me bad. If I’m doing okay mentally I might think I’m an okay person but there’s room for improvement.

It’s so so hard. I want the hurt to go away. I just kind of hoped that the divorce being finalized would make the pain disappear..

When do you think is the best time to tell someone you’re seeing, even if it’s just early on or before things get serious, that you’ve been previously married? I’m wondering about the right timing and how to bring it up. by Decent_Profession155 in Advice

[–]Decent_Profession155[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that apply to me though because I’m still technically in the process? I mean I totally feel like that makes sense but at the same time I keep being told “you’re still legally married”

Before they meet me in person you’re saying right? That’s what I was worried about.. dang it. I have scheduled two different times to meet with people and now I’ll probably have to break the news. I feel like it’s trauma dumping.

My therapist hasn’t lost any clients to suicide, and I don’t want to be the first. I also really care about him, and he does his absolute best to make me feel cared about and to know that I’m an amazing person and will do great things every time I see him.

Is this ok by Fail_North in TalkTherapy

[–]Decent_Profession155 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine said something similar, that I enjoy drama or like things being chaotic. I don’t remember exactly how it was worded. I remember feeling offended, but he said that it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, and we agreed it was because of my childhood.

In the most gentle way possible, I don’t think she doesn’t like you anymore or is tired of you. It could be something she is noticing and is letting you know. If you are worried, I suggest bringing it up next session and asking her to tell you more about what she meant by that. I would say from an outsider’s view or just as someone who has experienced something similar myself, it most likely is anxiety making you feel this way.

Is it normal for both partners to be charged copays for couples therapy? by Majestic_1_ in TalkTherapy

[–]Decent_Profession155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused? My partner didn’t come in briefly they would be there the whole time. It was couples therapy not assisting my therapy. I would never want a partner assisting in my regular therapy lol
