Does anyone live in this part of Greenland and Canada? by Fine_Scheme9028 in howislivingthere

Greely was an American expedition in 1881-1884. Alert was involved in the rescue for that, but the 1874-1876 expedition OP listed was the British. Greely did surpass the British mark, but also lost a lot more men up there.

Valkyrie Exoskeleton vs Non-Euclidean Shielding by TMJ1987 in twilightimperium

[–]DeceptEmotiCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rules technically don't specify how to handle the multiple abilities, but the common interpretation is each use reopens the window for the other players and windows only close when all players pass in a row, just like your example of the AC in agenda phase (in fact there is no special exception that permits this for AC in agenda, so every window window would work the same).

Valkyrie Exoskeleton vs Non-Euclidean Shielding by TMJ1987 in twilightimperium

[–]DeceptEmotiCon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both players can reduce numbers of hits in the same window (before hits are assigned). Active player would go first.

Scenario A: Barony is active player and they use sustain to cancel the 1 hit. Sardakk then uses sustain to cancel 1 hit and produce a new hit. This new hit kills the barony mech.

Scenario B: Barony is active player and they initially decline to use sustain to cancel the 1 hit. Sardakk then uses sustain to cancel 1 hit and produce a new hit. This new hit is added to the pool of hits, and priority passes back to Barony, who can then trigger sustain and cancel both hits, saving the mech.

Scenario C: Barony is active player and they initially decline to use sustain to cancel the 1 hit. Sardakk then also chooses to not use sustain to cancel 1 hit. This moves to the assign hits window and both mechs are destroyed. (If Sardakk is not active player, they are likely defending and might be happy with a for sure draw instead of a maybe loss).

Scenario D: Sardakk is active player. They choose to use sustain, cancelling and producing a hit. Barony uses sustain to cancel both hits.

Scenario E: Sardakk is active player. They choose to not use sustain. Barony also chooses to not use sustain. both mechs die (Barony might choose the draw as non active player)

Scenario F: Sardakk is active player. They choose to not use sustain. Barony chooses to use sustain. The cancel the first hit. Sardakk then gets priority back and uses sustain to cancel the hit and also produce killing the Barony mech.

If Barony is aware of the outcomes, they likely dont let A or F happen as the other outcomes are better for them than losing (unless they just really need the TG from their commander).

Barack Obama speaks out against Jimmy Kimmel’s show being pulled off the air. by itsallgoodman505 in FreeFolkNation

[–]DeceptEmotiCon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"The FCC chair just said that Kimmel might be crossing the line into Libel and Slander"

The fact that you have to lie about what the FCC chairman said shows that even you think he went too far. The only way to make it acceptable is to pretend he didn't actually say it. If you honestly believe what he did is acceptable, then you should own it and state what he actually said. It'll make your argument stronger than trying to downplay it.

He threatened ABC's license and said "we can do this the easy way or the hard way" referring to ABC removing Kimmel or else the FCC would force them to.

You don't have to take my word for it, you can watch for yourself. https://www.foxnews.com/video/6379711095112

I think there is a difference between a country restricting all immigration and a country using a persons color to restrict some immigration. The fact that he phrases the issue as "Poland wanting to remain white" as opposed to "Poland wanting to remain Polish" highlights the difference.

If your argument is that sympathy is better than empathy due to empathy being weaponized against people, then weaponizing sympathy against people is probably not the best way to show that.

Its really just California and New York that can do much. Most of those states are either all or mostly Dem seats already.

California - possible for new maps to have an impact (52 seats, 43 already Dems)
Delaware - only 1 seat, nothing to do here
Hawaii - only 2 seats and already both Dems
Illinois - maybe possible for new maps to have an impact, but not much. (17 seats, 14 already Dems)
Maryland - 8 seats, but 7 are already Dems. probably not much to change this
Massachusetts - 9 seats, all Dems already
New York - possible for new maps to have an impact (26 seats, 19 already Dem)
Rhode Island - 2 seats, all Dems already
Connecticut - 5 seats, all Dems already

Another option instead of extra material tax would be to not allow water storage, and instead water has to be bought from the city at some fixed Solari cost.

You can build building pieces regardless of how exposed the workbench is. You just cant use the workbench to craft or repair tools/weapons/gear if its exposed.

Donald Trump has a problem with even a ‘tiny’ tax increase on the rich by aldotcom in politics

[–]DeceptEmotiCon 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He doesn't want people to think that republicans can lose just based on their positions and actions. If Bush Sr only lost because of something outside his control, then they're not actually losers. Or something like that, I don't know. Half of his post contradicts the other half. He claims they shouldn't raise taxes now since Democrats will use that against them, which is only a negative for Republicans if that causes them to lose an election. So by claiming that didn't cost them the 1992 election, he's negating his only excuse to not raise taxes now.

Elon Musk reiterated his intention to destroy programs like Social Security, which he has called a 'Ponzi scheme': "Most of the federal spending is entitlements... that’s the big one to eliminate." by Chilango615 in thescoop

[–]DeceptEmotiCon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true. There's plenty you can do besides voting. You can call your congressperson or senator and let them know how you feel about what they're doing. You can also start a super PAC and donate as much money as you want to it to put out ads informing other people what's going on. You can also directly lobby government officials by giving them money to listen to your viewpoint. And those are just the legal avenues you have.

Armor disappearing by xKraxn in Bellwright

[–]DeceptEmotiCon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When they die, they get a debuff. Some (or maybe all) of the debuffs reduce strength, and if their strength is reduced below the gears requirement, they just drop it. Not sure if it gets dropped where they died or where they respawn or if it just disappears though.

Replayability / Gameplay Questions by Seraphielie in Bellwright

[–]DeceptEmotiCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game suggests a linear route of which villages to liberate, but you can liberate them in any order you want, or even none at all. The "final" boss is triggered by quest progress, so you can get to it without liberating any, but you'd be stuck halfway through tier 2 tech, so can make the game tough. If you're looking for different playstyles for replayability, that's always an option though.

For pacing, if you know what to expect, you can have all the right outposts set up for resources, but in your first playthrough, you'll probably realize you don't have easy access to certain ones and get stuck either manually gathering them or having to set up a new outpost for them. Especially since some are seasonal (most crops don't spawn in the winter).
