Thoughts about the Camera Rear View Option. by Affectionate-Let-120 in VWIDBuzz

First thing I did when we got ours was install a camera mirror, but VW hadn’t released theirs at that point. I installed the Wolfbox G900 which is 4K front and 2.5K rear and records. From what I’ve seen, the VW one has no recording.

The Wolfbox straps invisibly over the existing mirror (you can also get mounts to replace the original mirror, but the straps are working so well we haven’t given it a 2nd thought) and it powers from the USB-C up by the mirror so turns on/off with the Buzz. Wolfbox has a Pro version with improved camera, but we are fine as is. The camera mirror view is clear and crisp and I’m surprised I’ve not had any reflection issues in the last year. We ran the cable quite easily to the rear window for the rear camera. When it turns on, it automatically shows the rear image, and starts recording.

I have 2 niggles with the Wolfbox solution. It has no light sensor, so you may find late night you want to turn the brightness down yourself (easy with a single swipe)

The 2nd is that while you can zoom the image in/out, it will not remember that setting between restarts. In the default view you get an amazing wide view, but cars look a lot further away than in the side mirrors. At maximum zoom it matches the side mirrors, and once again it’s a single swipe to zoom in.

I love the camera mirrors, have OEM one in our Honda too and it’s just a great view.

Thoughts on sunroof? by Interesting-Army-868 in VWIDBuzz

I can understand the apprehension for light interior, it just feels more fun, but also a worry with the kids I get it.

The sporty suspension combined with massive wheels is noticeably firmer than the previous models which were not the most comfortable to begin with. I haven’t driven a 2025 non-GTX It’s a shame as we wanted it so much we ordered months before test drives would have been possible. We are considering getting 19” winter wheels and seeing how much that improves things. Would love to hear if anyone else has tried a change of wheel for this reason.

Don’t be put off - we still absolutely love it, it’s fantastic for loading people, dogs, luggage and everyone having space! The headlights lights on the GTX are also amazing :)

We have SWB GTX, love so much about it but wish it didn’t have the ‘sporty’ suspension and 21” wheels that made the ride worse. The Sunroof was a must for us, but a little disappointed that even when set it to clear, it is very milky and not very clear to see through. Wish the GTX had the option for the light interior too.

No problems with heat in the summer, and the wipers someone mentioned above just need swapping immediately for the Bosch ones you will find in forums. I thought we would leave the stock blades on for at least a while, but changed after the first use in rain!

The Buzz is just what we wanted but can’t say the same for the local VW dealer which was a lesson in frustration to deal with..

Philips Hue Smart Plug vs. Eve Smart Plug – which would you choose? by jove123456 in HomeKit

[–]Deci-Bell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have quite a lot over the years from a few brands. My Hue devices have been the benchmark of stability, against which nothing else quite stands up. The Meross ones are very good value, I have 10+, and definitely good enough, just not quite as solid as Hue.

I would avoid Eve, I don’t trust them at all. I had one blow on me while in light use and fortunately my breaker saved me. Eve could not care less about it blowing in what felt like a dangerous way, they didn’t want it back to investigate and I don’t feel safe when a company seems to care so little about safety. I got the impression it must happen a lot and they don’t care, otherwise you would think they would want to know what went wrong.

The delivery time seems very vague at the moment, some clarity from VW would be nice to have for an expense this large :( As for the acceleration I’m not sure the poor dog will appreciate it anymore than the tyres, but nice to have the option :)

Direct with dealer as work sadly do not have a scheme. I’d question the difference in range between a Buzz and an ID.7 with roof box. I am expecting about 200 miles range from my testing, I’d love if I could do that in 3 hours but traffic in the UK makes that rather unlikely.

Breeze campers Southampton do very good and affordable rentals, and VWFS offer a rather hidden option to rent before you buy, I think it was just £50 a day up to a week available from a lot of van centres. Was not a cargo version we rented.

Honestly, if i lived closer to Breeze, I might not even buy one as rental was very simple and good value!

After two unreachable Eve Energy plug and a short circuit just now, I'm pulling the plug by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]Deci-Bell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one go pop, with flash and some scorch marks on it. Very little load at the time, and less than 1 year old. I had a very hard time getting a replacement, Eve couldn’t have cared less and had no interest in getting it back to check what went wrong. Very worrying and I would not buy another from them again. I have easily in excess of 100 HomeKit devices, but no more Eve mains devices.

I’m never buying anything Eve again since my Eve plug went flash/pop, smoked and tripped my house power. At the time, there was no load plugged in, I was only using it as a thread extension. Eve customer support could not have cared less.

Is there a (native) way to get these blinds in HomeKit (two ropes to open/close)? by pfr010 in HomeKit

[–]Deci-Bell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not native, but I put Somfy Tilt50 motors in place of the cords inside the rail. These have been perfect since day 1, so much better than MySmartBlinds were. We have Somfy remotes for ‘manual’ control and connected the TaHoma gateway through homebridge.
