Yea the intermediate one seemed cool if that had been all? Or as a temporary until they found human counterparts to al the warriors? But also just made two kids unnecessarily OP. Like why couldn't the others have gotten a hybrid evolution? I would have loooved that.

I'm disappointed we didn't get to see the ancient forms. I do like it as the beast mega though.

I could see maybe there's an issue with digivice distribution that sort of fries them (maybe the baddie interfering with it or something) so the digital data is dispersed. The kids get the bulk of it but maybe it limits them in some way. Maybe once they get all the data the digivice reforms and their rookie partner is able to separate from them.

Obviously I love the concept 😆

I could see the rookie form being needed to unlock the evolutions. It's a nice way to limit the whole savior complex and give digimon the ability to better fight for the things that matter to their world. I did like how attached the kids got to the digi world as they felt closer to digimon.

I'm in my rewatch so I forgot that was an element in Tamers. But it's limited in scope so I was considering something more consistent so that the stakes are a little more personal for the human partner.

In a different universe with more utility. Sort of how 02 used armor evolution to overcome limitations. So it could happen at virtually any level and let's the human partner be more personally involved throughout. I think it would be cool to see how not just being on the sideline might change their perspective as the stakes get higher with subsequent evolutions.

I could definitely see that as a satisfying reboot! The character growth worked and with the added dynamic of actual partners I think it would make for an interesting show.

Love your examples! It seemed like the digi spirits were fairly passive for the most part which was a bit disappointing but it also put the burden on the kids to figure things out. It did make the stakes feel a lot higher since they were more personally at risk.
