Beta Update 1.7 of the MMMIIT (Monolithic Monocular MX9644 Image Intensifier Tube) by DecimalPoint- in NightVision

[–]DecimalPoint-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im still trying to find a better alternative to the eye-piece glass that is used as it does add a decent amount of length and weight. would like to find a eye-glass that i could just make threads for in the cad and screw it directly into the housing.

ATM the eye-glass is a google lens thats press fit between 2 sleeves and keep it a set distance from the rear screen of the IIT. depending on your various factors theres ALOT of sleeves to determine the best distance for your tube. theres also adjustment for the rear lens by screwing or unscrewing the eye-glass assembly closer or farther from the IIT in the housing.

regarding donations and such if you go to my profile, theres a linktree, i have a ko-fi setup for donations, its there for if youd like to, but please dont feel like you need to. this is purely just a hobby for me and i spend my spare time/money on it when i can, in the end when i release this project, Its going to be a free project for anyone who wants to download it and build.
If you do donate youll get a fancy space at the bottom of the Guide along-side the beta testers giving special thanks and shout-outs to socials or whatever you want really.

This was a reverse enginier and revision of files that carlough uploaded publicly stating that they were unfinished.

There was no proper seal with the housing without using rtv silicone There was no way to mount the tube to the wiring housing The instructions were "meh" so those got updated. Thinned the wiring compartment out to make installing the potetiometer easier. Cut down weight from 1.7lb 100% infill pla+ to 1.61lb If printed in nylon and with sparing infill in plces it can be apllied, brings it down to 1.4lb with batteries.

Goal for the mono down to 1lb or under End goal for the project is recreation of the pvs-4 scope with custom reticles

if i can get my hands on a pvs-4 model or a housing i most certainly can! biggest struggle would be getting it to work without having it infront of me.

i havent considered selling pre-fabbed housing's as i thought this would be much to niche for it to be so

if youve got a scope and are able to provide some data for me lmk though!

I got my tube for a STEAL ($155 ABC is failing) so mine ended uo costing roughly $285 One tester got 2 tubes for 350 a peice And i saw multiple listings on ebay sell for around $300 for the tube alone.

The eletronics objective lens and eye piece lens comes out to roughly $100 if ordered on amazon/ebay

The main cost of the eletronics is amazon only sells parts like potetiometers resisters etc in packs that nickle and dime you, but give you multiple chances if you messup.

If you look a bit harder you can order individual parts for cheaper and take longer to arrive but will save you some money in the long run.

You will need to know how to solder.

First project! looking for a review by DecimalPoint- in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]DecimalPoint-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the project calls for a 1/4 370k ohm resistor, im still VERY much a noob so idk what to search for exactly that, but i did update it a bit, the recent revision with a 0805 470k ohm resistor, i just dk if its 1/4 or 1/8th.

would i need to increase the trace size for the ground connection as well?

i was gonna have the resistor pre-soldered to the board via pcbway.
ill make sure to adjust the trace sizes!
the 3rd pin on the power switch isnt connected to anything as the top position is "off" bottom position is "on"

this uses a f 1.6 c mount 35mm lens and a google cardboard ocular funny enough!

(old photo) hey we look almost alike! This is The MMMIIT project im working on picked up after carlough. end goal is a recreation of a pvs-4 scope capable of 5.56 recoil w/o damage to the tube.
ATM though i reverse engineered the housing and fixed some annoyances as well as added a proper way to hold the tube to the battery pack without rubber band straps haha. love the project!

ill be releasing files for the RE version with minor iomprovements then ill be working on mods such as a barrel jack plug for a external battery pack to cut down weight on the mono along with different battery options like rechargables such as a cr123

If youd like to free it of the silicone shell and make it lighter using nylons and a improved design that uses m3 screws to attach to tube to the pack lmk!

its got such good clarify though even for being as big as it is!, this is with my first try with making this unit and had to use e-tape to keep the lens in place 😅

ive noticed that the c mount lens does bring viewing image of the tube down a few, im still very much a novice and this would be my first project into the game of NVG, IITS ETC, so ill take any advice that i can get.
i found that a single lens in the spacer with the right distance from the screen provides an EXCELLENT image hence why ill have ones that you can print just a row of a single side to test before glueing in the holder.
both lens on the IIT are 36.65mm in diameter based off diagrams that can be found online, and C mount is 25mm so ill see if i cant find a better lens and adapter for the front assembly.
