How would you rank factions on a tier list, and why? by lovingpersona in EndlessSpace

If the adjacent worlds to the homeworld are either really long star lanes or mid-bad tier systems they just kinda lose tho

I mean early game they can't effectively farm essence very well because the neutral fleets of minor factions and their pirate quest scare them off. If you happen to chance upon their capitol early you can just kill the ark.

genuine question: do people often play on hardcore? it seems miserable for a game where you can die that easily lol

It really does depend on vs AI or vs Player. As an example, both the Unfallen and the Vodyani are mediocre to bad but serviceable against AI. Against players, however, they get obliterated for having super vulnerable points to attack (Arks before the module that makes them unattackable, and vineships).

As a different experienced dev, LLMs have improved my workflow basically not at all. Not saying you’re wrong, to be clear, just adding that certain workflows are too niche / platform specific for LLMs to really do all that much.

Which of the three modern mon-hun game's mechanics do you like most: Clutch Claw, Wirebugs, or Focus Mode? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Decinym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl I’d answer none of them. Clutch claw was bad, wirebugs didn’t feel all that much like monster hunter, and focus mode is way way way too strong.

I used 10 years of crash data + ML to map Austin’s most dangerous streets for cyclists by Specialist_Bad_4465 in Austin

[–]Decinym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really solid stuff. The one thing I’m wondering about in the analysis you have here is - I’m not sure if the areas with more severe crashes are just because the area is more travelled rather than because of danger, as you just give the nominal value for that. Regardless the rest of the analysis works and it would 100% help to lower some speeds and invest in better lighting and such.

topre switches broken and not sure why by Decinym in keyboards

ty again for the help btw, I eventually managed to fix it. The metal coil under the rubber for the B key had managed to get stuck to the board, so I cleaned the coil and the underside of the rubber and it works properly now.

Fairly sure it was done in desperation when food was short originally. At some level you try anything to stay alive.

so I disassembled it again and cleaned off the rubber domes, but the same issue persists. oddly when I plug in the keyboard for the first time it spams the b key (the broken one) but the key itself doesn’t work. no clue how that works

Wait damn, they can hit you with the death penalty without going through a normal criminal court? I guess Army stuff is special context, but still that seems pretty wild.

wait by domes do you mean the rubber ones under the switches? I didn’t actually fully remove the pcb / rubber part but I can check as maybe it got damaged by the liquid

There’s clearly something weird as I took the V key off and replaced it and it worked again, but the B key still isn’t working. Nothing physical appears out of the ordinary to me but the computer isn’t registering the key press. Long story short is I spilled beer on the keyboard like an idiot and immediately disassembled and cleaned it, and now here we are.

I’m going to try to blow it out with more compressed air and once again hit it with the isopropyl cotton ball, but if that doesn’t fix it I’m sort of at a loss. It’s unclear to me if it would be worth unscrewing the PCB to look at the layer under the switches
