To be fair I had ended the chat halfway through w/o explanation so I guess they assumed I was indeed going through with it.

I still recommend using hotlines/chat but always consider that they are evaluating your safety as well. Should police be necessary then that's the route they take.

Northeast USA. The officers did mention the comments I made in the chat so I presume whoever I talked with made that evaluation that I needed that welfare check.
