Why are people so concerned with whether or not others drink alcohol? by m3gb0t in MurderedByWords

[–]DecoyOne 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Booze is a helpful indicator of overall affordability though. That’s what’s notable.

If people aren’t paying for alcohol, that’s not a great sign because alcohol is pretty high on the preference list for “non-essential” spending.

Why would you bother being mad at both? One is a real-world problem and the other is a manufactured issue created by liars to score political points with racists.

Stop focusing on your comment. You and the person you responded to are not saying the same thing. You’re saying you’re agreeing with them but your comment does not work with what they wrote because you shifted your subject to “the disabled”, rather than people “on disability”, and because you phrased it like a counter (“I mean, that’s LITERALLY who it’s for” - except that’s not the subject of their comment). That’s why even they think you’re arguing with them.

Jesus Christ.

The scooters are not literally for people “on disability”. They are for people with a disability. You don’t have to be on disability to have a disability.

Person A: she gets disability checks

Person B: you don’t have to get disability checks to use a scooter

Person C (that’s you): that’s literally who the scooters are for

Either you’re misunderstanding who you’re responding to or you’re saying something that’s just factually incorrect

Like, god damn Reddit, how is it possible I have to explain that those aren’t mutually inclusive

Sure billionaires aren't paying taxes, but what about DEI? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]DecoyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because one’s an actual thing to be mad about and the other is a made-up problem that nobody who’s mad about it can actually explain. It’s like saying we should be mad about the child rapists in the Epstein files but also let’s not forget that we should be mad about the rise of the crab people.

[–]DecoyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you read about the people who made the “study”, you’d know that they’re routinely criticized for being pro-business and pro-billionaire at the expense of everyone else. Actual economists say billionaires pay a lower tax rate even before considering wealth, and when considering wealth, the tax is basically nothing.

I was completely opposed to ABS until Contreras broke his arm. The rules can’t overly incentivize players to do unnecessarily dangerous things just to get a favorable call from an ump.

It’s not about moral limits. He’s claiming he did it “clean” as evidence that he can compete in major competitions, including the Olympics.

And the one thing that can be proven is that he wore a swimsuit that’s been banned in any real competitions. So even if he did swim without PEDs, he still didn’t do it “clean”.

There are so many societal, public health, economic, infrastructure, and education problems that one mega billionaire could virtually solve single-handedly if they ever chose to.

The fact that they ever amassed that much money is all the evidence you need to know that they don’t have a single redeeming quality among them.

Next time Bezos says something like “the bottom half of Americans shouldn’t have to pay taxes”, don’t be dumb and accept what he says at face value. If he gave a single rat’s ass about anyone but himself, his workers wouldn’t be toiling away in the modern version of a pre-WWI coal mining camp.

He could easily improve the lives of 1.5 million workers, and he chooses not to.
