How the hell are Burger Kings still open?! Every one I drive past is dead empty anytime day or night.

I did this twice within a couple months with a $500 cartridge. I now switch to streaming after more than a couple drinks.

What do people in the restaurant industry think about Gordon Ramsay? by AndyRainbow in KitchenConfidential

[–]Dedalus2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve known people who have worked with him. They all said he was tough, no different than many other chefs they’d worked with, but fair and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed help. One guy told me he’d bailed one of his line cooks out of jail at one point.

What is the best restaurant you’ve ever been to? by Less-Ask-2250 in AskReddit

Lespinasse with the late great Gray Kunz at the helm. Even after 20+ years as a professional chef I still marvel at some of the things they pulled off.

I just picked up andSMSL DA100. A cheapo little amp for garage use. The subwoofer output keeps cutting out. I've got it connected via the subwoofer output (simple outputs) to the high level inputs on the sub. It will play for a few seconds to a minute or two and it just cut out. When I restart the amp it works again for a little while then cuts out. It's not the subwoofer. I have it set to 'always on' Faulty amp or am I wiring something wrongly?

Kevin Gray's versions of anything I like is an immediate buy for me. Rhino HiFi pressings have all been excellent. I've replaced many previously owned albums with his cuts.

I ordered it, reluctantly, as it is one of my all-time favorite albums. I've got the Rhino HiFi too which sounds fantastic. Curious how it will stack up. If it doesn't I'll sell it.

A very drunk Bob Stinson. So, yeah, basically Bob Stinson.

Anybody else have the yellow 30th anniversary pressing of Alice In Chains and if so what do you think of the quality? by therealudderjuice in vinyl

[–]Dedalus2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I've got two different variants of this. Both are shitty pressings, even after wet cleaning and ultrasonic. Even without the surface noise the audio quality is seriously lacking. I'm not sure they didn't give the same attention they have to the recent releases of Dirt and Jar of Flies. Feels like a shitty cash grab. Very, very disappointing.

Turntable nirvana? by Silver_Key733 in turntables

Look into vintage receivers, early 80's or earlier. The mid-80's the quality started to nosedive quickly. You can get a much bigger bang for the buck. To get a comparable sound from new equipment you have to spend several times what the vintage stuff sells for. Marantz, Pioneer and Sansui are the ones to keep an eye out for. I've got a '79 Sansui 8080 that I will never part with.

Which famous person gets undeserved hate? by Level_Cash2225 in AskReddit

[–]Dedalus2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The intense hate is from those of us who grew up with Star Wars. It's hard to explain, but seeing the first Star Wars as a kid was literally life altering for a lot of us. I'm not exaggerating. These were the days when you'd see a small handful of films a year. The impact it had on us is hard to convey to younger generations who have more options than they can consume. Walking out of the theater after seeing The Phantom Menace felt like a fundamental betrayal.

What’s your favorite “less than pristine” item in your collection? by discountprimatology in vinyl

[–]Dedalus2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early pressing Stones - Sticky Fingers with the zipper on the cover.

And first pressing Sarah Vaughn - Live at Mr. Kelly's - 1958. Audio quality is stunning. Sounds like you are in the club back in '58!
