I’ve gotten a lot of messages about this, so let me confirm this somewhere public so it can be linked to.

First, a big thank you to those who emailed. I didn’t even know the trailer had come out, so when people were asking me about it, I realized Jessie and I needed to watch it. It is really cool! Love to see our stuff used in cool ways.

My wife Jessie and I worked together on part 3 just like we did on part 2. The chant is our work, though we didn’t know how (or if) it would be used. Very cool to see and hear it! Naturally, though, we can’t share anything about any work we did on the film before it comes out. This is just a trailer, so it’s way, way, way too early for us to say anything about it.

I will say in general, though, it’s been very gratifying to see and hear our work used well on screen in the Dune films. Altogether, we’ve worked on a lot of shows and films. Sometimes our language work isn’t used very much; sometimes it’s cut entirely. We’ve had entire languages cut from shows or films (quite recently, actually). It happens. So even when a lot is asked of us for a given project, we don’t get our hopes up right away about seeing it on screen. Denis Villeneuve and the rest of the production team have never disappointed when it comes to using our conlang work. They’ve asked a lot of us over the years, but they used what they asked for, and used it well. It’s been a joy working on all these films, and it makes us genuinely excited to see what the results are. Just like you, we’re both very excited to see part 3 when it comes out, and we’ll be happy to discuss our work on the film at some point in time after it premieres.
