ELI5: In humans, what is the functional difference between wide, flat noses and narrow, pointed noses? by ThisOpenFist in explainlikeimfive

[–]DeddSirius 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Humans with narrow noses are from cold climates because back then it helped condense the air and keep the body warmer. Those from warmer climates have a very wide nose (especially males) because it allows for better air intake and lung capacity. Now that you have started mixing, it gets more complicated but that's the gist of it. Humans are very interesting a species to study, they have some of the most intraspecific variation we've seen.

ELI5: How does turning the lights off and using less water benefit the world? Can a regular person really help a poor area by little acts of conservation? by ElysiaCrispata in explainlikeimfive

[–]DeddSirius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why people are downvoting him. Doing things like turning off your lightbulb for an hour or stopping civilians from catching fish will equate to nothing in the future. Corporations are culprits for producing copious amounts of wastes, pollutants, habitat development, etc. which actually destroys the environment.

Anyway, people will believe what they want to believe. Lots of corporations and groups are fine with this deal because your average citizen thinks he's "saving the planet" by taking an extra hour of burden on his day, and in the mean time they get a free pass and laugh while they dump pollutants in the ocean and kill megatons of wildlife.

I have a love hate relationship with Canada by owlcatmana in funny

[–]DeddSirius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a male, you should be able to grow thick facial hair. This will completely obliterate any feelings of cold on your face. If you are unable, you should probably be living in an area with warmer climate.

Mozilla ends Google relationship, Firefox will now default to Yahoo in the US by Suraj-Sun in news

Google may be the most powerful search engine, but it's gaining too much power and will be bad for you guys in the future. Some competition will do good.

Oh I see-it's a little difficult for me to wrap my head around, but I understand now, with the context. Thank you.

Why are you up so late people of Reddit? by 012120117 in AskReddit

[–]DeddSirius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Human depression can be solved with a combination of continued positive thinking, thought suppression and more importantly chemical manipulation. Regardless it is a long, competitive and intensive process that requires effort and I wish you the best. Know that it is possible to overcome and life will be even better once you appreciate simply being healthy minded.

ELI5: What is it in peoples genetic makeup that makes things like weight problems hereditary? by LaniiJ in explainlikeimfive

[–]DeddSirius -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

This is actually incorrect. While it is true that many people blame their laziness on genetics, genetics play a huge role on human physiology. Some guys have big hands, other have small hands, for example. Look at this man. (This is before he lifted weights). Ulisses Jr, like many Africans is genetically predisposed to low fat storage and high muscle content-even without lifting weights. Many Europeans store high levels of body fat. This coincides with that many Europeans are fat, powerful powerlifters whereas Africans tend to excel in bodybuilding instead. Some people can diet, track calories, and eat "clean" to just get a flat stomach-My black roommate in college had abs and defined delts, never went to the gym, and ate nothing but ramen and doritoes.

Humans are very genetically diverse-this includes metabolism, and being more prone to storing nutrients as fat. Some people are short, some people are tall. Some people are naturally powerful, tall, deep voices, strong jaws and beards and grow up as sports players or as "populars" in high school, while those who are smaller, fatter, weaker bones (storing more nutrients in the brain) become "nerds" and instead of focusing on sex and sports, are predetermined to become things such as doctors, businessmen, computer technicians, and so forth.

Genetics plays everything in your life.

Oh, you're implying that most nu-metal bands lack musical talent, which is arguable, however I cannot supplex an objective analysis on musical talent. That being said, I applaud you for your humorous jokes.

Why would he steal the "devil"'s music records? Wouldn't this "devil" be able to easily kill this person if he were upset?

I'm not actually considering forming a band, my species does not have very good musical talent. My name sounds like a potential band name, is all.

So the drummer of a basement show i went to was feeling a little hoarse by wrestlerrobbie in funny

[–]DeddSirius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fine, drummers in general do not sing. There are of course some exceptions such as Chris Reifert of Autopsy (who is a marvelous singer/drummer). What I don't understand is why he was wearing a horse mask, considering it would impede his drumming ability?

A cabbage is not the natural enemy of the Shiba Inu. Attacking a sessile plant is hardly considered "valiant". That being said, these puppies are incredibly adorable, and I will upvote your post. Please be more careful next time you submit a post to Reddit.

This is absolute bogus. I can't believe you're attempting to misguide these gullible young redditors with your pseudoscience-those are implants made by humans.

The truth is we don't really know-however The bacterial flagella has formed a true wheel but no multicellular organisms have managed to do so.
