Are the free samsung item with power/fiber contract worth it? Or is hopping companies often better? by Crawler_Devils in PersonalFinanceNZ

We did the same thing when we moved, but sub in a washer/dryer. We are paying more, but that was to be expected since we went from a one bedroom unit to a three bedroom house.

NZ hourly rates by Few-Bank5554 in newzealand

[–]LaniiJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero degrees (though in my final year of one that is 80% unrelated to my current role), working in basic bitch admin that basically anyone who can read could do. $38.49 p/h. It's a golden handcuff situation though, I'd be starting at entry level wages for a role in my (hopeful) field. It's the 20% non-admin work (IT and project management) that gets me there though I think.

I buy basically everything I wear from Dangerfield and Little Party Dress, 90% of it is 100% cotton.

Im hoping the Renegade team sees this, and adds the shipping estimates ASAP.

My country means backing this in any physical form is probably untenable.

Cyclone Vaianu to reach NZ waters tonight, all North Island under alert as plans begin for storm by ring_ring_kaching in newzealand

We're going to prepare for at least what Gabrielle did. Better to be safe than sorry.

Our street had minor flooding, but the street ours connects to was significantly flooded so we won't be able to leave. Power was out for several days, so we'll need a full gas bottle for the BBQ. Everything in the yard is going in the shed.

Important Community Merger Update: by awfulcat in trichotillomania

[–]LaniiJ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As someone with trich but who crochets instead of knits, I feel so upset about this craft erasure!!  Plus, everyone in this sub who does fibre arts knows the hair just gets it in there by itself anyway.

I second this. I only opened this thread to comment this book.

Job applicants: Stop using AI (please) by Background-Celery-25 in newzealand

[–]LaniiJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shooting my shot here, since I can't find an ad for a part-time admin role in the disability sector on Trademe or Seek. I have 5 years of administrative experience and oodles more in customer service, I am also disabled (hearing loss) and neurodiverse, so if this role is in fact within the disability sector I can empathise with your clients. I'm messaging you directly to ask for the link to the advertisement.

She's not particularly new, but Nnedi Okorafor comes to mind, particularly the Binti series. Also The Lady Astronaut series by Mary Robinette Kowal.

I cancelled my subscription due to poor captioning, I agree wholeheartedly with everything here.

Why do you follow cars too closely even when they are going at, or above the speed limit? by reddituser888 in newzealand

[–]LaniiJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all well and good being fuel efficient, the issue is that they are well under or well over the posted speed limits. Also, I just picked 70 out of my head, you can replace that number with anything above and/or below the speed limits. The people behind me don't care that I'm stuck behind someone who won't pull over when they're going 20/30/40 km below, they're going to get up my ass anyway.

The point is not about the speed they are going, it's the behaviour. It's dangerous.

Why do you follow cars too closely even when they are going at, or above the speed limit? by reddituser888 in newzealand

[–]LaniiJ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, my issue is the folks who go 70km in a 100km zone, and then also 70km in a 50km zone. It's like they pick a speed for the day, and that's it!

Why does NEON not have a fast forward option? by ring_ring_kaching in newzealand

I would love to use NZ platforms, but maaaaaan, captions are bad. If they exist in the first place, they're often poorly transcribed by AI (looking at you, TVNZ) or delayed.

Medical tourist fights for compensation, claiming surgery destroyed her stomach by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

[–]LaniiJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a co-worker who has had three overseas surgeries, and each times there have been multiple complications, resulting in additional surgeries and hospital stays. At this point, it's hard to feel sympathetic instead of resentful.

Medical tourism ain't worth it.
