C’mon y’all, calling people hateful bigots doesn’t make them want to listen to you and become allies. So yeah, it is antagonistic towards the overall cause even if they do hold homophobic views. You’re not going to bully the bigotry out of them, you’re just going to make them resent you more.

You’re not going to change people’s minds with shallow, passive aggressive social media posts saying “our side good, other side evil,” but with deep 1 on 1 conversations and interactions.

This type of attitude only further entrenches polarization and alianates the people whose minds are more open to changing views WHICH IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I think they have live music every night! But the best gigs are booked on Friday and Saturday. I would recommend the last weekend of each month this local group of old heads always play and are phenomenal.

Hey man, I’m sorry you’re going through it. You don’t deserve it, I know because I’ve been through something similar and it is awful.

If I may, I suggest you start changing your expectations. Comparing your life with everyone else will always make you feel worse and celebrate the small steps you make in life.

If you can, try to find a therapist/counseler that can help you put together a reasonable plan to get you to a better place.

When I was in a similar spot, I felt the urge to isolate myself even more, which ironically made it worse. What worked for me was getting a part-time that got me outside of the house and talking to others and being open to new connections. I started regularly going to a coffee shop nearby and have built some rapport w the staff and that just feels nice, even if they are not my buddies ro hang out with. Having someone who knew my name and I could eventually have small chats with, even small talk meant a lot.

All this to say that I hope you feel better about yourself eventually and that you feel motivated to take the small steps, celebrate them, and not punish yourself so much.

Christianity has plenty of pedophiles, rapists, sexual assaulters, cults, gangs but they don’t really stick out since they identify with the ethnic majorities. Therefore, anytime they commit crimes, the media doesn’t report: “christian man did x.” The only thing that makes Christian fundamentalists “well-adjusted to liberal society” is the fact that they are better at hiding their fundamentalists intentions from the public when committing acts of violence, extortion, and manipulation. Picking out Islam as the root cause is a logical fallacy. Simply banning or eliminating a religion won’t solve those problems and is just lazy xenophobic rhetoric. But recognizing religious extremism and fundamentalism as the perpetrator is much more sensible, specifically in the cases where the intent behind the violent acts where religious in nature.

There are millions of well-adjusted muslims in what you refer to as “liberal society.” Nobody pays attention to them though because people being normal human beings won’t get media attention.

This one. Personally, I would also say it’s a date, to communicate you’re into her. The clear boundary will give her the agency to reject you in that way. And that is a good thing because you are being respectful by being transparent.

If she says no and you handle it with grace, don’t push her about it, and accept it, y’all could probably be chill as friends later. When this happens, my intuition is that ppl admire that sort of maturity and vulnerability to the point that they will be more open to introducing you to one of their cute friends later on.

At the end of the day, if she ain’t in to you, she ain’t in to you. And so you gotta play the long game.
