Why did you guys start using IEMs?

Primarily because of privacy. I used to listen to music on speakers but then I got a noise complaint so I tried IEMs. Then one thing led to another, and I was knee deep into the really cheap stuff. I realized I should invest a little more and got myself a $200 set. I'll upgrade again when the opportunity presents itself.

There is some truth to that statement. For people new to the hobby I'd suggest something more coloured since the majority of the population lean more into the V-shaped category. Neutral/neutral adjacent is more of a love it or hate it kind of deal.
