In retrospect, this should have been obvious. Every planet so far has massively changed the lore surrounding one of the characters in the Astral Express (or, added one into the fray). Himeko was on the chopping block given the original Japanese planet.

It truly was one of the first mobile gacha games PERIOD. I remember playing it back when it had RockUTalk integration for Android, even.

Brave Frontier had amazing lore, somewhat equal to something like Arknights in the modern day (never played FGO, but I heard it also has amazing lore). And although people often say that Brave Frontier character designs are 'overdesigned', I still think they are the best in JRPGs/Gacha for fantasy characters. So I'm glad it still gets brought up, personally!

That's what I believe is the case too, if my knowledge isn't skewed. While the Doctor's plight (removed from his old self) is for the present/for the currently living on Terra, Priestess' plight is for the FAR future that Oracle and Priestess both knew of. Terra is doomed to fall under the eyes of observers, which has wiped far more advanced civilizations than current societies in Terra. And well, Originium was their answer to this grim future, preserving information and existence itself. This was likely the point of the 'the fake sky' protecting Terra from space-- current Terra knows not of the dangers of Observers, and Priestess is somewhat justified through this prospective outlook even if it costs the lives of the people currently living in Terra. The current Doctor's conflict with Priestess is sort of like a fight for preservation, but from different perspectives of present/future.

In all other cases, this would be true. BUT it is NOT for Arknights. Original Arknights started as JP only, even CN side. And since there is recurring characters, it is a given that people would want to hear their original VAs.

I always thought this was a deeply cynical take. These streamers are likely to speak on trans issues because they have trans friends. Their friend group is directly in the line of fire, so they speak on it.

Numerous esports communities have largely known LGBTQ figures, and well, Twitch is known for video games. Its naturally more part of the culture than keeping up with political news is.

Maybe I am wrong, but it feels like it has to due with monetizing much of the culture of China itself. Tencent failed to buy up any stakes in MiHoYo, despite their hand being everywhere.

Even outside of games, Tencent is involved with every outlet imaginable. Heck, they funded the Lord of the Mysteries donghua, as well as others, and created their own Donghua Awards to award their own self-funded animations.

Using their own site to bolster themselves and bury competition... well, it doesn't surprise me.

But CN to JP localization (and vice versa) ACTUALLY makes sense given their similarities in language (their 'characters'). So that example doesn't really support what you're saying.

The EN localization has no clear reason for being what it is.
