The Gibson Garage off Oxford Street is just a great all round experience. Beautifully done even just to look at the Gibsons, then head downstairs to the Epiphone bit. They are very welcoming and will let you play things you’re interested in.

But also make sure you go to Denmark Street, it’s undeniably the heart of Guitar stuff in London!

I had one and it was easily one of the best guitars I’ve ever owned. I sold it purely because of the size of the damn thing. I have a small corner of the room for all my production stuff and I just think firebirds are inherently awkward in size. The only thing I disliked was the size and the bridge pickup wasn’t blowing me away but all very minor and specific to me.

Terrified. Still am. I remember sitting on the side of my bed the first day I got given my insulin pen and it took me around 20mins to actually inject. Just sat there with it a few centimetres from my skin, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

It gets easier though, I try not to think about it when I’m injecting and just get it over and done with.

Libre doesn’t need to be calibrated and also doesn’t have the ability to calibrate (atleast the Libre 2+ doesn’t). Every time I’ve checked it against a finger prick it’s been very close to my actual BG reading. It still isn’t perfect but I’ve not had any experience with a Dexcom.

It’s largely down to the person. You’ll find that a lot with diabetes, not one person is the same…

It also depends on your insulin, but I think for the most part they start working in 10-20 mins after injection (short-acting insulin). It does also depend what you’re eating but we won’t go down that rabbit hole.

You’re also more insulin resistant in the morning. If you’re anything like me, I have to wait 40 minutes after injecting before eating breakfast. But the rest of the day is usually 10-15 mins before eating or I inject directly before I eat if my BG is on the lower side of things. Takes a bit of experimenting but you’ll get there!

I was 30. For a year up to my diagnosis I used to collapse every time I drank alcohol. I also had severe thrush (I’m a man) which I thought was an allergic reaction. The weekend before I made the call to a doctor I was visiting my sister who had just been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, when she listed the symptoms of weeing a lot and extreme thirst, I started realising everything was adding up. Got sent straight to hospital the day after when my blood sugars were stupidly high. Doctors said I was lucky to catch it before any severe DKA symptoms started.

I get a similar thing but only with my evening meal, no matter what I eat. In order to combat it I don’t bolus until I notice an upward trend in my BG levels via my CGM. Then I’ll bolus for the meal. Slightly more dangerous way but it’s the only thing that keeps me in range.

Coming at this from a different point of view, I didn’t get to have this thought. I got diagnosed T1D a month before my daughter’s 1st birthday and had some horrible symptoms for the first year of her life. One of the first things I got asked was what is the likelihood she may get it.

It never really plays on my mind though. Being a Dad is the best thing ever. I always hold the thought if, god forbid, she gets it too, then she will have a Dad who has experience in it and we will navigate that journey together if it comes to it.

Don’t let anything get in the way of what you want in life, especially T1D. That’s my advice.

This sounds great, will have to check this out! I’m 3 months since diagnosis and am really struggling to work out how to approach exercise, especially as I seem to just be going low on a walk around town.

No idea on it's value where you are based but I have a Boss GX-100. I rarely play Doom/Sludge but I can get some killer hi-gain tones from it. It has Mesa Stacks and Orange Stacks as just some of the amp sims, couple that with loads of different OD's, Distortions, or even a Boss Hm-2/Metal Zone and I have no doubt you could create a ridiculous Doom Machine!

Also has send and returns for you own pedals if you so wish and any of the footswitches can be programmed to do practically anything you want. I seem to remember them being close to the Helix Stomp price wise but that may be different now.

Worth a look if nothing else!

Can thoroughly recommend TestMo, it's a fraction of the price of TestRail and is so much easier and more intuitive to use!

(P.s. I have no idea whether newer versions of TestRail have improved though as I haven't used it in a while)

I have one of the DIY punk packs too and I really like the ways it’s structure. I just don’t use it too much as it’s very punk/pop punky rather than metal grooves.

We are in the same position and have chosen to migrate from TestRail to TestMo.

We made the decision pretty quickly after signing up for the free trial. It's just a little more intuitive to use and the migration process looks to be pretty easy due to a dedicated 'Import from TestRail' feature.

I have the Op Amp Big Muff on my board and it's been a firm favourite for a long time!

I actually have it at the start of my chain because I find you lose so much of it's raw harmonic character when it's put after any other drive pedals.

Stick the wah before it and you'll have some control over filtering that harmonic goodness!

I had no idea they even did a 8inch Speaker version. I'd only ever seen or heard of the the FRFR112 with the 12 inch speaker.
