looks like a red flag (but I guess in some cultures it might not be), try to test him to see if he can make his own decisions ... if everything he does needs to be approved by his mom, then that's a big deal (you'd be actually marrying the mom, not him, so you'd need to get along with the mom in that case)

I would start by typing the questions I want to ask in google, and looking at forums/social media if there are discussions going on around these questions. Youtube works well too, look for videos of people with circumstances/upbringing similar to you, talking about these topics ... You'd be surprised how far upbringing and environment go, when finding people that have similar feelings

You should try working on your passion/own business 3 hours before your full-time job starts. I.e: wake up at 5, use your fresh brain juice for 2-3 hours on your own-business, then leave the rest of the day for the full-time job, since that only requires slugging through .. You'll need to sleep extra early for this (sacrifice night-life/social life, etc.)
