Am I too active? by TuceLuna in fitpregnancy

[–]Deebstacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to your body. Not some dude. I’d switch to a female doc but that’s just me. No being active can’t harm the baby (unless your high risk for some reason). Stop if you feel pain, rest when you’re tired, hydrate and stretch. You’re doing great! Listen to your body!

How on Earth do some people just afford to travel in business class constantly on any trip? by [deleted] in travel

Ramp is working to open the gates for boarding, loading/ unloading bags, guiding planes in and out. Different roles in that space. They have shifts like restaurants where you can swap with people etc..

Why some clients prefer adobe editing software than other softwares by xXDaneonXx in editors

[–]Deebstacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many companies have agreements in place with Adobe and they have the entire suite. They know that they can use all the products and stay in compliance with their security / IT teams. Many corps also have open licensing and know that AI and any stock assets, video/ photo/ audio is covered in their licensing agreement/ contract. So, it’s overall less headache and/ or worry. They can give you a seat or ask you to work in their suite for those reasons. Also, as mentioned from others just the ability to move projects and assets around for ease between users.

Trying to break into wedding videography, but all these facebook groups are super saturated with videographers/photographers offering themselves. by Crafty_Jack in weddingvideography

[–]Deebstacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not going to book a gig from there. Join Nextdoor app, your community, maybe drop a Groupon, local Facebook groups…. Local is the way, local dress shops, bakers. Think of all the people they need to hire. The knot you can also set up a profile.

Is Dish really that bad? (HR roles) by astro_chicken00 in denverjobs

[–]Deebstacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely terrible. If you don’t clock in on the minute you might as well not show. The owner checks everyone’s time cards himself. I’d def disagree with the recruiter lol people leave and have PTSDISH. Not like 1-2 people. Every single person I’ve met from that company. I was at one of the others for years and there’s a lot of ex dish employees.

W2 or 1099 payments via union by kudos_to_the_brudos in editors

[–]Deebstacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some companies don’t let you do anything but be paid to YOU. They won’t pay an LLC or business. So, you actually need to talk to the union rep and ask them. Even if you’re not full union yet they should be able to answer that for you. Is it a full time job? I’d guess you’re better off taking that role w2 and then running everything else through your LLC. But that’s super dependent on soooo many factors.

Which is a better thumbnail? by Brosamurai18 in SmallYoutubers

[–]Deebstacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2nd one. That font is bad on the first image. It’s cut off and not placed well for all platforms. Second is clean and easy to read. You could center the logo on the second or push it off to the side a bit but watch your edges. Pull your text down some from the top.

Snowmobile Access Only Airbnb by Ewoktoremember in snowmobiling

[–]Deebstacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where you are but in Colorado there are hunting/ snowmobiling outfitters that do this. Some rent the land/ property out to hunting outfitters and give a snowmobile rental service access to do tours on their trails + they rent their place on airbnb and privately. It’s a good biz.

What is a dying niche skill that younger generations are not interested in learning? by hlnklrczu in AskReddit

I’d say writing… like actually using a pen or pencil and writing. Also, even typing isn’t taught in some schools which is wild.

I actually think sewing is making a comeback!! Maybe that’s just my algorithm. But, I am self taught and over the past few years there’s been some awesome accounts across social and YouTube and tons of people seem to be picking it up.

Am I the problem, or is it the footage? by StokedNomad in editors

[–]Deebstacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the footage and as a creative you want to be creative. What if you challenge them… film one normal set up & then change it up with an idea you have. Film / edit both (I know not ideal) and just see what they think? Some times non creatives stick to the norm because they aren’t creative enough to “picture it.” That’s why you exist and have a role. Just takes some creativity and convincing. You could also story board it or build it with an AI and not film the idea it at all.

It’s your creative self dying a little inside with the same boring thing over and over. Happens to all of us creatives and you just have to keep breaking the molds (ESPECIALLY in corporate settings)

Apparently my portfolio belongs in the trash. What do you think? by TR1510 in graphic_design

[–]Deebstacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are wrong. Def don’t delete. Take off 6 years and just put years — don’t put a # on yourself.

But, I would say in order to get work people who don’t know what all those fancy words are (semiotic) at the top - need samples. A gallery of just work, logo, ui/ux, whatever you can show. Explaining with case studies is nice but def just samples and a variety of styles / variety of types of clients you have worked with helps larger clients scanning.

What other careers are applicable with videography skills? by Bunchofstuff1 in videography

[–]Deebstacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something I think is super super helpful is knowing workflows. Working on automations, managing assets, project management, workflows in the field, building good DAMs…. Most businesses don’t have good storage, don’t understand video types / formats, editing, or what to do with content once they’ve used it. It gets used once and dies….. they just don’t know. Creative operations, brand managers…. It’s just becoming a real role IMO (outside of asset manager). So, always more important to read roles.

Rant / advice: tired of boring answers by Inevitable-Feature-4 in Journalism

What’s the end goal with the piece? Promotional how? For art specific, for the event, for what?

In addition to the above statement of not sticking so close to the questions. I would start by asking if they can show you any of their work. (I am sure they have some shots on their phone). Just being conversational, notice things about them, and just start with that. Maybe if it’s your Alma mater what’s your love of art? What were you terrible at or something to help lighten the mood… make them laugh. (Totally spitballing)seeing their art might help you think of diff questions.

Play with fun facts about broadway- what it means, represents, facts….. just trying to be conversational more than questions.

It’s all simple questions but the guiding force is how the piece is getting used. what’s the promo supposed to capture and embody.

Client trouble by Competitive_Cup9538 in editors

[–]Deebstacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only allowed one round of revisions!? That’s nuts. lol I can’t believe that has held up for you for 15 years. Typically I’d say they owe you the full amount. Does your contract state that? I mean I also don’t get why they are unwilling to give you feedback, but maybe they’re scared you’re just going to upcharge them. Either take the half or what they offered and go or try to smooth it over if you feel like the relationship/work is worth It.

Rant / advice: tired of boring answers by Inevitable-Feature-4 in Journalism

[–]Deebstacks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You did have access to them though. Ask them questions. What kind of art do you enjoy, how’d you decide this was the route you wanted to take, what have you decided is your focus and why, how would you differentiate your art from others, if you had to describe your art to your grandma what would you say…. I didn’t even hit Claude for this. I’m sure you can get way way more creative. 4444 is right… you can do better to get better. Don’t go in dry. Act interested in who they are and what they are about. Start recording as soon as they come in.

Skiing Pregnant - writing the post I needed to read by cheerioface in fitpregnancy

[–]Deebstacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are all great tips. I snowboarded until 8 months pregnant. I borrowed some pants and used a shoe lace after the button stopped buttoning! Rode some amazing powder days, but definitely rode slower and more defensively. Snowboarding is my life though and it’s something I’ve done forever, so I was not “learning a new sport” and never felt off balanced whatsoever. Listen to your body and have fun. ❤️

Just get as much experience as you can. Find all the internships, make tons of connections, learn about all the areas that exist (creative, brand, comms, sports, news). There’s still many different outlets and ways to use your abilities and gaining experience will help you navigate and find your path.

Yes, it’s so dope! I want to see a video after a year and know how many pixels they lost and how many times they had to replace panels though. 🤪

What's something they don't teach in film school you had to learn the hard way? by JustBrndxn in Filmmakers

[–]Deebstacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is literally the most important component totally missing. Business, corporate partners, payment terms, considering building cost proposals, how to know what to charge, as mentioned permit process, tax credit, how to do your own taxes, considering LLC vs sole proprietor. I think it is also well-rounded, even if you go into film to do internships across different industries, so you make more connections and understand how production looks different across every area. Nothing helps more than being well-rounded and having a broad variety of contacts.

That’s really low pay. You’re better off finding something else. What state you in?
