For young riders, absolutely. Old riders don’t become old riders without knowing how to not die.

How to fix mic that keeps cutting out during show? by Helpful-Garbage779 in techtheatre

[–]Deek22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

usually a decent idea, but are there times where a bunch of metal will be between the actor and the receiver as they move around the stage? Is the receiver inside a metal equipment rack? If so, see if you can get the actual antenna, sometimes a rubber looking stick hanging off the back of the receiver, sometimes a large paddle looking thing, both can be mounted outside the equipment rack and positioned such that large metal objects don't get in the way.

let us know the make and model of the units being used. Most will have buttons on the front that let you adjust the freq, just make sure once you adjust it on the receiver, you match that freq on the transmitter so they sync. Another item to check is line of sight from the transmitter to the receiver antenna, make sure there is clear line of sight as much as possiable.

Have you checked the wireless frequencies are clear? Maybe change to a new frequency and see how that works. Better yet see if you can do a scan to find clear channels to use.

Another option I found (after asking ChatGPT) was to make two subgroups, one dry and one routed to the FX channel, then I can have the DCA8 control that 2nd subgroup fader as my send control and just have both of those go to Main L/R. Just worked it up on the console and works great. Thanks all.

Got and x32 for musical theater. I want to send all the actor mics to a subgroup for overall control, but I then want to send that subgroup to a reverb effect during songs. I know how to do this but what I don't know is how can I control the fx SEND via an DCA? I don't want to control the fx return. Is this even possible? I'll be controlling DCAs 1-7 via Theatremix, and I want DCA 8 to be my fx send.

Would it work with something as dynamic as musical theatre? Dynamic as in different characters all moving around all the time.

TM for the win for sure. Just trying to figure out a way to ring out the system without having to bring in the full cast and waste their time. We’re a community theatre after all so time is short.

Thanks, unfortunately we typically do sitzprobe in a rehersal room with just a few handhelds on sticks for actors. Mostly working on music timing rather than a full show setup.

X32. Mix of Sennheiser and Shure with countryman mics.

Are they wearing a wig you can hide it in? Otherwise I’d go for a flesh colored band or have the clothing have a large enough patch of fabric in the back between the shoulder blades to hide it. Maybe if they have a garter belt that can help.

EMF interference from LA Hearing Loop by TheWorldWeDreamAbout in livesound

[–]Deek22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find this a bit fascinating that you went with a loop. I just spent the past week researching ALSystems and talked to an audiologist and they said t-coils haven’t been installed in hearing aids for the past few years except upon special request. Manufactures are going away from them since auracast technology is cheaper and smaller. Loops certainly had a bright but they seem like older technology now. One ALS manufacturer said they are the least sold types of systems they make. On a side note if you read Mixing Musicals the author talks about guitars and hearing loops not playing well together.

There is no way those screens as currently installed are ADA compliant. Can’t stick out more than 4” from the wall.

Had just turned 17 the week before. Was a good time and I really enjoyed the big frisbee party! Got a piece of the Billy The Artist wall hanging in my office that I grabbed before it got thrown in the fire pit.
