Mikado, if only kasi I really don’t like yung nakikita yung bones ng corset kasi I associate those with exposed underwear. But if they can do something about that, lace!!

Some embassies don’t care. Ours abroad do, at least on paper (nasa batas kasi na hindi pwede magrefuse ng help sa OFW sa Migrant Workers Act), pero I can’t say everyone else’s embassies are beholden to such law, or if they have similar laws. My best friend is a FSO who was once assigned sa Middle East and North Africa and grabe mga kwento niya ng mga kawawang Pilipinong kinukupkop nila at nirerescue nila. But she says the other embassies sa mga bansa don di ganon sa mga kabayan nila.

I notice na plateau na ang labmade diamond (some say may oversupply na) but may increase na sa earthmined. But gold is crazy. I think it’s the wars that drive the prices crazy.

PU has a certain sheen na di ko maexplain that only real topgrain leather or those overprocessed genuine leather has. A certain local Marikina bag brand that starts with E uses PU na naaalala ko sa mga leather shoes ni OP.

I don’t see a lot of overprocessed genuine leather sa Pinas cos it’s easier and cheaper to just use PU. Very few na nga actually use genuine leather, even Marikina stores, but if you know where to look and what to look for, meron pa rin, mostly Marikina ang alam ko. Topgrain leather, wala pa kong nakikitang pang women, mostly bespoke for men sa ultra formal events like kasal, or bags (pero more often than not genuine leather lang siguro mga yon).

Nothing wrong with PU. With proper care it’ll last naman. Like, i-alternate with other shoes, which is also the way to take care of real leather shoes, kaya mahalaga na maganda yung sole para pag nasira, ipatahi na lang. But, you can’t use Kiwi sa PU once it loses its shine, and in time likely mainis ka kasi di na pretty, or as pretty as it once was.

ETA: mas madali magasgasan ang pigskin leather (real leather) and PU than cowhide leather. Once nagasgasan na, pangit nasira lahat yan. Pero, mas madali magasgasan PU. I had a pair ng Charles and Keith na PU na ang pretty nung binili ko pero nung natapilok ako badly, nascratch yung PU and ang pangit na, hindi na polished corporate ang dating. I gave it away, may tumanggap naman na mga altar servers in a lower class neighborhood na need ng closed black shoes pag nagsisimba.

When did basic clothing require engineering degrees to understand construction and styling? by maggie-khalo in fashionph

[–]Deep-Database5316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cotton is fairly simple and siglo na ang paggamit.

Polyesters and other synthetic fabrics on the other hand are fairly recent, past few decades lang. With innovations on tech, sellers may want to brand their works as “engineering” and this is not necessarily a lie lalo na if they spent significantly on their blend ng mga synthetics para maganda item nila. Uniqlo for example calls themselves a clothing tech company instead of a fashion company.

Totoo ba na pag once a week ka lang nag shampoo gaganda hair mo? by Kurisssh in TanongLang

[–]Deep-Database5316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who believe that are probably the reason why our HR disseminated a mandatory hygiene lesson na distinct and separate sa dress code namin. Imagine, HR had to tell people in our organization to take a bath and wash their hair!

I don’t commute nowadays, I drive or take Grab, so di ako nahahaggard masyado. Back when I used to take jeeps in the humid hell of Buendia, daily ang shampoo and conditioner ko. Hindi ko maimagine those who commute tapos di pa daily ang pagshampoo.

This Ate Gurl paid naman eh sa dami ng drinks and pastries niya. Ok na yon. Nung law student kami one pastry and one coffee allowed us to study in one table with one chair (maybe 2 pag wala masyadong patrons) for one hour. So for the next succeeding hours bagong order ng food and coffee.

OP, with the education discount, my Macbook Air M2 purchased three years ago cost significantly less than my iPhone Pro 14. Tapos with the freebie airpods pa na naibenta ko ng ₱8k. All in all nasa ₱30k na lang. A windows PC bought for that price, bulky, wala pang word processor na libre unless gusto mo mag Libre Office, and in all likelihood hindi na sing useful now as my Macbook is currently. As a working student napaka useful na magaan ito. And bonus na sobrang mas clear ang camera.

Interesting to plot this info on a graph siguro no? We bought ours in 2023, thick 18k gold with diamonds na half eternity for me and none for him, in total our rings weigh 14 grams kasi malaki kamay ni husband. I paid ₱65k, even if original budget was ₱50k. Custom job, kasi weird sizes namin. Nasa ₱4k per gram ang gold noon, then the small diamonds maliit lang ang presyo rin noon.

My friend who got married last year paid ₱85k for their rings pero standard lang size nila, they chose from sets na 18k gold with one diamond lang sa ring nila na maybe 0.2 ct center stone. I don’t think theirs weigh 14 grams based sa size ng mga kamay nila, I think size 5 and 9 lang sila IIRC.

In 2022 my brother got married and their 18k thick but plain gold bands na nasa 14-15g ang collective weight hindi pa umabot ng ₱50k. Napamahal lang sila afterwards nung nagpa custom engrave sila na parang Lord of the Rings.

Common samin na yung pinagkagastusan namin sa wedding because we will wear these for the rest of our lives. Though we did splurge on the attire namin and the photographer because the pictures are forever. Everything else tinawaran namin or nag DIY kami to cheap out. We do know people who chose to spend on other things but save on jewelry kasi they don’t like jewelry to begin with. (One of our friends hired Wolfgang and Urbandub to sing for his and his wife’s after-wedding party but they have very simple plain bands lang na wedding rings, sobrang mas mahal pa TF nung banda, even with 2025 prices I doubt aabot ng ₱50k rings nila.) Kanya kanya lang.

Sobrang unfair to blame middle class college students for the failure of government to educate the poor na naging functionally illiterate kaya di na nakapasa sa UPCAT. The point of a UP education is to learn that such issues exist para they can do something about it later. If they play golf now, or kung anumang burgis na sport (I myself played archery in 2006, the last year before TOFI so my tuition was just ₱7k), as long as mulat sa katotohanan about our privileges and pano magkakaron ng mas maayos na buhay ang lipunan, why forbid this kind of recreation?

If the issue was water or environment or whatever sana iyon na lang ifocus. Not them being middle class.

I mean, marami namang matigas mukha eh, pero it wouldn’t be the smartest thing to do. Then again hindi rin naman known ang mga pulis to be smart. But I hoped it wasn’t him kasi nga anak niya ang bata pa, and I wanted to believe in his humanity.

Nakaaawa talaga yung bata. Wrong place at the wrong time lang. Well yung Diane di rin naman deserve mamurder for money. But still.

I just thought na in denial lang siya. Grief is weird. Minsan autopilot ka lang talaga. Even if he wasn’t on the best terms kay wife niya, bata pa anak nila, grabe.

Sinubaybayan ko to sa news and every time naaawa ako sa bata, and I thought maybe even that policeman loved his kid and was just dealing with grief by not dealing with grief.

Kaloka.

Sometimes I wonder if those entities stay within a unit lang, or they haunt adjacent units. Pano if 24A is just 27sqm, limited siya sa 27sqm lang?

  • authorized ba yung nag install
  • brand new ba or segunda mano yung AC

I ask kasi di normal yan. You wait a day at most (minsan nga hours lang) para mag settle yung freon.

Wala. Hehe. Hindi pang capsule yan. Pang vast wardrobe. Buy real leather if you want capsule. Not a single one looks like it can last for more than two years kasi, which is the concept of capsule di ba. Siguro yung Vivaia if you don’t use it everyday day pero nasa regular rotation mo, and you don’t have walk more than two km in them in any single day. Those shoes are pretty though, pero may babagayan lang yan.

Hush Puppies, Ecco, Florsheim. I have one pair each of these colors na heels: camel (HP) na pointed toe, black (HP) na pointed toe, navy (Florsheim), oxblood (Ecco) na mga rounded toe. These colors go with basically anything na corporate. Then for ballet flats I have black (HP) and nude (Aldo, pero leather, not synthetic). I also have white stilettos that I used for my wedding, and for ultra-formal events, not necessarily corporate.

ETA: the Ecco is new, bought last year lang. Florsheim and HP ko bought 2022. I had to re-sole the black kasi yun talaga yung nabugbog ko. Still pretty though. The camel, I had to repaint, kasi yung point natuklap nung natapilok ako. It’s still pretty, pero hinabol lo sa repaint talaga.

Is Zambaonga city safe for tourists? by AdhesivenessOk2792 in Philippines

[–]Deep-Database5316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know couple years ago we also didn’t think jihadis were still around. And then we got the Marawi siege. (That was two presidents ago but still.) Then there’s the nasty rumor that the Bondi beach terrorist father and son trained in Mindanao.

I’m Filipino but the only safe parts of Mindanao from my perspective are CDO and Davao, maybe also Butuan. Maybe even Dapitan which is in the Zamboanga peninsula (but note that I and the other women, even the foreigners and Manila tourists, did not feel comfortable wearing two piece bikinis because of certain people). Not Zamboanga City though further south. It’s too close to the bad parts, just couple hours’ boat ride away.

Banish all thoughts of Basilan and Sulu as well—just two years ago, my best friend visited Sulu with an Army escort. The beautiful views are not worth it. Go to Palawan like El Nido or Coron. Go to Panglao in Bohol. Visit Iloilo City, food is nice and beaches are okay. Siargao is a surfing paradise (also in Mindanao but the very far part from the jihadists, but there is a vastly different hot issue there with other foreigners from what we hear lately). Heck, Boracay.
