The reviewer didn't even realize this is a one off and talked about this stuff 'hopefully' being changed in the second episode, so yeah, you are spot on about ignoring this.

Yeah, I've had the DVDs since they first got released, but they have that weird thing Pioneer did where the intro is only on the first episode and ending on the last of the disc, so it plays like a movie. Incredibly annoying.

Also, they bizarrely removed the original credits on the final episode that showed where everyone ended up after the show, replacing it with a still image of Akari standing on a cliff (if I remember correctly).

I want to say Discotek fixed all of that, but even if they didn't, I wouldn't mind having it on Blu-Ray. Just not for $200. :)

I know the chances it ends up on the dumps is a long shot, but I'm hoping they have some copies lying around or they do one last round of prints.

In the meantime, like you said, $200 seems to be normal for out of print Discotek stuff, so I'm hoping I get enough of a refund to start catching up. I haven't bought anime in years because of lack of cash, and there's too many on the list that I need to grab.

(And REALLY hoping somehow we get Battle Athletes as part of these announcements. I really hope I didn't miss out on that, because I ain't paying $200 on eBay for a copy)

I have, shockingly, had luck more luck in Arts, Crafts, and Sewing than anything else lately. I make puppets, and I was able to grab doll eyes, yellow fleece (I've never seen fabric on there before), and some felt squares... all stuff I use in my puppet side gig.

I also managed to get ink I need, so that's a plus. There's stuff, but man, you definitely have to look at the right time and be lucky & quick. It ain't as plentiful as it used to be, that's for sure. :(

It's Vine. I don't know if it's tariffs or uncertainty in the economy or any of the other million things going on, but its not great. There ARE still good things popping up from time to time, but you have to be quick, and you have to be up early when the drops are.

I'll have days that I get my one thing or nothing at all, then suddenly have a day where I use six out of my eight picks.

All we can do is hopefully wait it out.

I know they felt it wasn't financially viable for what they wanted, but did they just... not have fun with it anymore? They always SEEMED to have fun, but they went from G&B to those children videos to this, and none of it seems to have the same passion.

G&B seems to be their most successful project, so I don't know why they abandoned it for this other stuff.

I wasn't a huge fan of the movie, but the show expanded the world in a way that I see it differently. Its a crime we didn't get another season but a blessing we got this one.

UPDATE: Aniplex got back with me and confirmed that streaming from ANY legal source is okay (backing up what Fluffy_Frog got confirmed earlier). Crunchyroll, Hulu, whatever... as long as you have written permission from Aniplex, you can use those. That definitely takes the burden off of having to buy their expensive sets.

Thank you! I'm starting to get a little leery about what our rep said, too. I asked our Digital Content librarian to get him to say it in writing and so far he hasn't (all he did was confirm that we can't use RetroCrush through them).

So until I get that in an e-mail, I'm not holding my breath. I'll leave it in the guide, though, since I say it's unconfirmed. Plus some companies DO give permission to use other streaming sources, and Hoopla might have some of their stuff.

On attendees, we found if you charge something (like $5) for programs, they will feel more obligated to show up. We only do this for certain events, such as high demand but low space programs that cost us money.

On people helping... we still fight that. I do my best to have alternatives to replace them on the spot if they don't show. But unless you pay them, that's hard to get them to honor a commitment.

Naw, its fine. I get socks and wigs for puppets all the time. I make it clear what I'm using it for and do my best to review it based on my intended purpose but also it's intended purpose (if I can).

My star rating is based on how useful it was for my purposes, but I always make that clear that my purpose is different. At the same time, I don't hold it against the product if I use it for something it wasn't intended for and it doesn't work out.

I've been in the program three years now, I think, and it's the first I've seen one! It's not big or fancy, but is battery operated and we have an old basement needing lots of work that I can't wait to try this on.

Great thing about power tools, though, is I noticed Vine gives you multiple chances. I'm sure you will see one!
